Do I have a dying alternator or an electrical problem?
By disconnecting the battery lead you may have fritzed the alternator. The engine keeps running because the alternator keeps supplying 12volts until you turn the engine off at the key. I would suspect the earthing points and straps connecting them to the engine and trans. Take the steals off, test for continuity and breaks, sandpaper the body earth points to bright metal and bolt those steps down tight. Electrickery requires just as good a return path to the battery as the path from the battery to the sensor, starter, etc.
but if you found a different solution in your case, please tell us so it can help someone in the future, thanks.
Towing overdrive button
By now you will have solved this problem? Can you tell us what you did? This will help someone else in the future...
i would have started by doing a fluid and filter change on the auto.it's amazing how a little normal preventative maintenance can fix auto problems.....
Brake lights troubleshooting
You connected up the brake light switch incorrectly, the new switch is faulty, or you blew the fuse by shorting out the wires while fixing the switch, or both tail lights are burnt out, or if the vehicle has benn accident damaged, the shop forgot to attach an earth on the taillight assembly.........
Will a 2004 3.3 nissan engine fit into a 1995
The answer to your question is, yes it will. The mounts are the same and as long as you are staying with the same transmission auto/auto or standard/standard then it should be an easy swap as far as swaps go. I own a 95 Pathfinder as well, but my 3.0 is still running strong, but if it goes, then I'll replace with a 3.3 as well. The 3.0 is slightly under powered. Here is a link that you may find helpful and if you are not a member of Nissan forum, I would recommend joining.

The guy in this thread gives a lot of information on his engine swap from a 3.0 to a 3.3.
Hope you found this information useful as that is my goal.
Why would a 1995 Nissan pathfinder v6 idle roughly in general idle mode?
Although usually fuel problems are actually electrical problems, check for a vacuum leak, hissing around the intake manifolds, and the acknowledged test is to carry out aimed squirts of WD40 at the joins in the manifold and see if the revs rise or fall.
after that check the idle air control and the Mass airflow sensor, and definitely clean the MAF if you haven't done so recently...
The alternator belt on my 95 nissan pathfinder
Check each pulley for chunks missing from them, rough surfaces on the pulley, and for smoothness of operation of the alternator, especially the bearings.
Check alignment of each pulley to make sure one hasn't moved on the shaft, as out of alignment pulleys put great stress on the belt. What sort of damage to the belt? Chunks taken out, one clean break, glazing and multiple small breaks on the inside???
When you have fixed the fault, replace belt with Gates Green Stripe for maximum length of service. Put it on, tighten it, run engine for 5 minutes, retighten and you are good to go....
