the ecu is located behind the passenger kick panel , there is a little window at the top of it which has 2 lights in it red and green, turn the key to the on position, do not start engine, push gas pedal all the way down then release, the lights will start blinking, for example if you get 3 green blinks and 2 red blinks that means code 32, 5 green and 1 red code 51, there is a list on the front of the ecu that tells you what each code means

Try the crankshaft sensor

On all 300zx NA the speed sensor is on the passenger side of the transmission. There is portion called the adapter plate in the middle of the transmission when looking at the side profile. This plate is about an inch thick and seems to separate the transmission from the front main body to the rear housing. The speed sensor is just aft of this (towards the rear of the car). It is round smooth top with a set of wires coming out of it leading up to a brown plug (no sure if color changed for different years)

According to OBD standards it should be reachable when you are sitting in the driver seat. Since it is made before 1997 it is a OBD1 not OBD2 connector.

no spark means you are not getting any fuel ck the pressuer on the fuel rail ,

What does not get power?

Is there a MIL on, what is the code if so. May very well be a coolant temp sensor or connector corroded.

I would check belt tension and then Idler pulley bearing..If still nothing check the A/C compressor clutch..

check throttle position sensor and throttle body

Have you checked the tranny fluid?

open the valve cover and feel all your lifters to see which is loose.

spin your push rod with your fingers while tightening your rocker arm(should be 5/8) once you can not spin the push rod any more give it 3/4 of a turn and your good to go repeat for any loose rocker arms.

take a known good wire and install on cylinder 5.if it fires replace the wire and do same on cylinder 6.if this has no effect replace the cap and rotor.If the cap is broken check the motor mounts for too much movement. Ask when you are going to buy the new cap.Have you pulled the diagnostic codes? They sometimes tell where to look.Success!!!

When you turn the key to on, not start, the pump should come on for about two seconds and then shut off. It won't come back on until the car is being cranked. Then it should be on, and remain on when the car is running. If the car won't start, and you suspect a fuel or fuel pump problem, the best way to check it is have the fuel pressure tested. Correct pressure at the injectors is critical for the engine to get enough gas to run proper.If you don't want the pressure test, and only want to verify pump is working, then break into the fuel line somewhere convenient and see if gas spurts out when you are cranking the engine over. If it does, pump is working. If no gas comes out, line is plugged or pump is not working. To test for power to the pump, a mechanic would check for power at the fuel pump connector while the engine was being cranked.

when a tranny has this sort of problem the modular unit or actuator piston is registering the tailshaft/ engine speed ratio at the point when a shift is required. Have a auto shop check the pressures in the tranny as it may be a mechanical adjustment problem or if electrical it may be the wires in the oil or the unit itself

You have 2 problems: the mounting bracket behind the dashboard has broken loose, thus it "flipped" over. Secondly, the speedometer cable is probably kinked or broken and needs to be replaced...
