Easiest way to fix lifter tick/tap on a 1991 300zx

open the valve cover and feel all your lifters to see which is loose.

spin your push rod with your fingers while tightening your rocker arm(should be 5/8) once you can not spin the push rod any more give it 3/4 of a turn and your good to go repeat for any loose rocker arms.

300zx cylinder 5 and 6 wont fire

take a known good wire and install on cylinder 5.if it fires replace the wire and do same on cylinder 6.if this has no effect replace the cap and rotor.If the cap is broken check the motor mounts for too much movement. Ask when you are going to buy the new cap.Have you pulled the diagnostic codes? They sometimes tell where to look.Success!!!

You have 2 problems: the mounting bracket behind the dashboard has broken loose, thus it "flipped" over. Secondly, the speedometer cable is probably kinked or broken and needs to be replaced...

I have a 1991 Nissan 300ZX and when I turn the key on the fuel pump will not keep pumping please help

When you turn the key to on, not start, the pump should come on for about two seconds and then shut off. It won't come back on until the car is being cranked. Then it should be on, and remain on when the car is running. If the car won't start, and you suspect a fuel or fuel pump problem, the best way to check it is have the fuel pressure tested. Correct pressure at the injectors is critical for the engine to get enough gas to run proper.If you don't want the pressure test, and only want to verify pump is working, then break into the fuel line somewhere convenient and see if gas spurts out when you are cranking the engine over. If it does, pump is working. If no gas comes out, line is plugged or pump is not working. To test for power to the pump, a mechanic would check for power at the fuel pump connector while the engine was being cranked.

I am also fixya help tech on electronic area. my 1991 300zx has overdrive problems. often the 4 gear will kick out and down shift to 3rd (auto). it keeps kicking in and out of OD. any suggestions?

when a tranny has this sort of problem the modular unit or actuator piston is registering the tailshaft/ engine speed ratio at the point when a shift is required. Have a auto shop check the pressures in the tranny as it may be a mechanical adjustment problem or if electrical it may be the wires in the oil or the unit itself

How do I replace the fuel injectors in a 300zx

have a 1993 300ZX N/A and have had two injectors go out on me at different times. This is an expensive fix for two reasons; 1) the injector. 2) the installation process.If you're lucky you can find a shop or eBay seller with new or reconditioned injectors at an affordable price. $150~$275/injector is steep. Worse is the cost of removal and installation since the upper plenum and fuel rails must be removed. This is a design flaw by Nissan since you can see both screws to remove the injectors, but one is partially covered by the aliminum upper plenum (big silver colored aluminum air intake over the block). There are some sites that will talk about drilling or filing the plenum to allow access to the second screw, but this is highly frowned upon and you run the risk of putting a hole in the plenum. Best to leave this as-is.It's cost effective to replace these yourself if you're handy with a wrench and a screwdriver. the cost for a shop to do this job is between for one injector. Most of the cost is the labor to remove and replace the plenum and fuel rails.If you want to do this yourself, start with using a voltmeter and check each injector to find the bad one. Set the voltmeter to Ohms, disconnect the electrical from the injectors, and check the resistance between the contacts of each injector. They should read between 10 and 18 Ohms. Replace fuel pump om 1990 nissa 300zx

Sort of.There should be a relay that provides power to the pump when you first turn the key on.Then once the engine starts power is provided by way of the oil pressure switch. That way the pump won't run in an accident.The oil pressure switch grounds the fuel pump relay on some models.
