Starting Problem
I would look at the EGR valve and test whether the diaphram is ruptured. Then if not successful look at any idle speed "motor".If that is not successful, look at the intake manifold. With the engine running, get a old spray bottle and spray water around the seams of the intake while the engine is running. Any opening will draw in the water and stall the engine or reduce RPM. That is how you find the leak. The reason your car is idling high is when you open the throttle, more air goes in the engine. If there is an air leak that does not belong there it will raise the idle just like your foot pressing down on the accelerator. The car is hard to start because the air/fuel mix is flooded with air. You are not getting enough fuel for the volume of air that is entering the engine.
Changing spark plugs
Sorry, you have not provided enough information about the vehicle or what it is about "changing spark plugs" you need help with, for me to supply you with a useful answer.
How do I replace the fuel pump on a 1985 300ZX?
its in the center of the trunk there are some screws that hold the lid down..remove them..then remove the second set.twist the (twist left) fuel pump then pull straight up...you might have to wiggle it a little to get it out....then replace it.and put it back together
I have a 1985 nissan
i have a 1985 Nissan 300zx acted the same way i repalced the timing belt no problem since.
Does not rev up
first- if you have not performed a tune up- do that. I have had vehicles do exactly what you describe due to carbon tracking in the distributor cap. Make sure to lay out the plug wires in a manner where they cross only once, and try to avoid side by side cables for any distance. It also would not hurt to fire it up in the dark of night to see if there are any arcs to ground, Itis possible the ignition coil is breaking down. When the car is at idle- carefully look down the carberator throat and see if there is gas dribbling out of the venturi- use a mirror and flashlight. A slight dribble is okay, if it is streaming out- replace carb float and needle valve/rebuild the carb. In 85, they were still rather basic, so as long as you have spark, you can reasonably assume the electronic modules are okay, but it is still possible for wires to fail, for the magnetic pickup to develop an intermittent condition, or even corrosion. If this was a sudden onset, replace cap and rotor at a minimum. Check baeline timing too. Also check to make sure the vacuum advance and centrifugal advance system are functional. A defective advance system can just aggravate the situation.
Heat blows through vents always while driving
Your heater valve wont close, (common) its located next to fire wall on passenger side of vehicle, clearly visible, about 3" to the left of valve cover, it has a small vacum line on top of a small metal cylinder, it opens and closes to allow hot water to circulate to heater core, it causes hot air at your feet all the time,, you can replace it or directly under valve is a plunger attached to a metal rod, you can use a piece of wire to wire it closed for immediate relief till you can find the replacement.. do not install a used one, and just buy the in and out hose from nissan, it will be much easier..
