I have a used 2001 malibu it was running ok but one morning I go to start it and it wouldn't start. I changed the ignition coil packs, ignition module, and the fuel pump and it's still not starting
Your vehicle has whats called pass-lock II, it is an anti-theft setup. There is a procedure that you can do to reset the pass-lock system. Try these steps and see if it helps. Please let me know if it does or does not work and I will help you to further diagnose and repair the problem.
Step 1 - Attempt to start the vehicle. It will crank, but not run. The security light will be flashing on and off. Leave the key in the 'run' position for exactly 10 minutes, then the security light will stay solid or go off.
Step 2 - Turn the key to the 'off' position for 10 seconds. Attempt to start the vehicle. Some vehicles will run at this point, although many will require you repeat repeat Step 1 two more times. Make sure turn the key to the 'off' position for 10 seconds before each 10 minute cycle.
Step 3 - The vehicle is now ready to relearn the proper code. Turn the key 'off' for 10 seconds and then 'crank' the vehicle. It should be running now. The security light might stay on solid for several minutes afterwards, depending on your system.
No compression number 1 cylinder did the leak test on valve no leaks piston looks ok please help
There are 4 main possibilities:
- Bad Valve seats
- Bad compression rings
- Bad head gasket
- Bad piston.
If there is no compression as in ZERO on a compression test, I'd look for a stuck open valve or a hole in the piston.
A blown head gasket will give different symptoms depending on where it's gone. Look for water in the oil, low coolant level, pull the oil filler cap and look for water vapour.
Dont know how to reset or bypass gm theft system car is not starting .It tries and quits.
this is one way to reset it :
first make sure the battery is fully charged , then do the following:
key in the ignition but do not crank the motor, just leave it at the
ignition mode for ten minutes ,then turn it off POSITION for 5 seconds then REPEAT again 2 more times. at the 3 rd time youre gonna notice the ANTI THEFT light on dash to blink. when doing the last step , remove key , inserted again and turn on motor , good luck , AJ
01 Malibu starts and runs but if u go to drive it it dies changed fuel filter but it didn't help
I really need more info such as mileage, engine size, and has it been properly serviced and tuned up .Does this happen exactly when brake pedal is pressed when you put it in gear..?...However with safety glasses make sure both battery cables are tight..They could be tight enough to start it but when you try to drive it it is possible to lose a full ground ..Also the IAC ..(Idle Air Control ) could be at fault..I can give you guided information on troubleshooting this problem but I will need more info...
02 sensor? Throttle Pos Sensor?
Likely the TPS.. those cars were notorious for chaffing or breaking wires. The 02 code is likely a result of the bad TPS. Or, having a bad tps may have even clogged the sensor.
