01 chevy malibu it starts but after 3 sec turns off fuel pressure guage says fuel pump is workin we even by passed tha theft system we changed the crank sensor and fuel pump relay any other ideas?

Hi Kaitlin: 3 seconds is a brutally short time to have the engine run. That's almost the same time that it takes to crank it over to try to start it. Is there any chance that it is actually stopping firing when the key is allowed to return to "run" from the "start" position? If you have fuel, and you have spark, it will run. It sounds like you have fuel available, so unless the injectors are not triggering (bad sensor or wiring) something is killing your spark. Try checking each component separately and you should find which one is giving you grief.

I have a used 2001 malibu it was running ok but one morning I go to start it and it wouldn't start. I changed the ignition coil packs, ignition module, and the fuel pump and it's still not starting

Your vehicle has whats called pass-lock II, it is an anti-theft setup. There is a procedure that you can do to reset the pass-lock system. Try these steps and see if it helps. Please let me know if it does or does not work and I will help you to further diagnose and repair the problem. Step 1 - Attempt to start the vehicle. It will crank, but not run. The security light will be flashing on and off. Leave the key in the 'run' position for exactly 10 minutes, then the security light will stay solid or go off. Step 2 - Turn the key to the 'off' position for 10 seconds. Attempt to start the vehicle. Some vehicles will run at this point, although many will require you repeat repeat Step 1 two more times. Make sure turn the key to the 'off' position for 10 seconds before each 10 minute cycle. Step 3 - The vehicle is now ready to relearn the proper code. Turn the key 'off' for 10 seconds and then 'crank' the vehicle. It should be running now. The security light might stay on solid for several minutes afterwards, depending on your system.

I have a 2001 malibu and the parking lights don't work. The dash lights up and the brake, hazard, and turn signals still work. Every time we try to turn the lights on the fuse blows and the relay is

sounds like you have a short in the wiring somewhere. try checking all the wiring between the lights and the fuse box and between the fuse box and the switch looking for bare wires or loose ground connections. also check the bulbs themselves.

No compression number 1 cylinder did the leak test on valve no leaks piston looks ok please help

There are 4 main possibilities: - Bad Valve seats - Bad compression rings - Bad head gasket - Bad piston. If there is no compression as in ZERO on a compression test, I'd look for a stuck open valve or a hole in the piston. A blown head gasket will give different symptoms depending on where it's gone. Look for water in the oil, low coolant level, pull the oil filler cap and look for water vapour.

Dont know how to reset or bypass gm theft system car is not starting .It tries and quits.

this is one way to reset it :
first make sure the battery is fully charged , then do the following:
key in the ignition but do not crank the motor, just leave it at the
ignition mode for ten minutes ,then turn it off POSITION for 5 seconds then REPEAT again 2 more times. at the 3 rd time youre gonna notice the ANTI THEFT light on dash to blink. when doing the last step , remove key , inserted again and turn on motor , good luck , AJ

In a 2001 Chevy Malibu what would cause the gas gage, temp gage, heat/ac, radio, windows, and cruise control to stop working all at once?

Bad ground. You have several of them on the inside of the car. There are a couple on the steering column. one one each side of the car. Under the kick panels on the drivers and passenger side. These have several wires going the a ground plug. Mounted to the body.

I really need more info such as mileage, engine size, and has it been properly serviced and tuned up .Does this happen exactly when brake pedal is pressed when you put it in gear..?...However with safety glasses make sure both battery cables are tight..They could be tight enough to start it but when you try to drive it it is possible to lose a full ground ..Also the IAC ..(Idle Air Control ) could be at fault..I can give you guided information on troubleshooting this problem but I will need more info...

02 sensor? Throttle Pos Sensor?

Likely the TPS.. those cars were notorious for chaffing or breaking wires. The 02 code is likely a result of the bad TPS. Or, having a bad tps may have even clogged the sensor.

2001 Chevy Malibu hesitates after warming up? It seem more like a jerk or hestitation. When I release the gas, then press again it fine

The hesitation could be caused by your auto transmission. I'd check the fluid level first and smell it for a (strong) burnt odor. The fluid's color should be a sort of transparant reddish color. if the fluid is dark or brown, then there's a good chance of a severe tranny problem. However, a fluid & filter change could also fix the problem.
