I have a 2000 Chevy s10 that when I try to start all of the electrical comes on but the engine won't crank. The battery, alternater, and starter are all less than a year old. I will have to just sit there for up to ten mins turning the key back and forth untill the truck starts, other times it starts right up. I went through a bid puddle of water about two weeks back but just started having this starting problem 4 days ago. Could it be a bad ignition, or could I have shorted something out? Someone plaese help I can't afford to take it anywhere.
Check the ignition and Engine relay switches located under the hood. Sometimes relays go weak with age and even a bump on the road will shut them off. If you can turn the truck on, take it to Autozone or similar store for a free DTC scan code.

I have a 2000 chevy S10 Pick up 4 cylender and checked for power at connector to AC compressor and no power. I checked for power at the 10 amp fuse, AC fuse is ok, but no power at fuse socket. Any thoughts of why I would not have power at fuse socket. I also checked AC relay by switching it with the horn relay that is the same type relay and it works. I ran a jumper wire from the battery to the AC compressor and it works fine, I just don't have any power coming from the main wire to the compressor. My fan seems to be working fine when I put it on AC max and AC selections as well as all other selection on the switch.
Thanks in advance for looking at my posting and any other assistance in the future with this problem I am having.
try removing the plug off the low pressure switch on the accumalator plug a paper clip into the plug and turn ac on if it comes on then your low pressure switch is bad or your low on refigerant.

2000 Chevy s10 2.2L 4 cyl engine. Truck was running fine and recently deveolped a very rough idle and miss at low rpm when standing still. Once its past 2000 rpm the idle seems to smooth out. Installed plugs and air filter, but didn't help at all.
May be your distributor if it has one. Then check oil, if that's ok, then check for vacuum leaks and IAC (idle air control) and EGR valves.

My passenger seat won't lock into position. It slides back and forth as I drive and the bar that you pull on to move it back and forth is stuck in the up position.
There is a spring that pull's the handle back to lock position that might be broke or the locking mechanism might be gummed up.the spring can't be bought seperatly so check a hardware store or replace the seat track assembly.

how to replace an ignition switch 2000 chevy s10
You need to remove the upper and lower steering column covers and you'll find the switch beneath them. Covers are held in place by screws [torx head I believe] that come in from the bottom. They aren't real obvious so don't force anything to come apart. I see a few of these switches fail and usually they cause a group of items to quit working such as the blower motor or part of the dash or you may get erratic dash indicator lamps that come on and go off. You shouldn't have to remove the steering wheel unless you are removing the actual key cylinder itself. Once you get to the switch check the connector for any discolored or melted areas. If you find any you may have to replace the harness end [pretty rare though] Good luck!

parking brake wont stay engaged on 2000 s10
Do you mean that the parking brake works when you press the pedal down but the pedal does not STAY down? If this is the case, you should look at the parking brake mechanism to make sure that the lever that releases the brake is not stuck (the release cable attaches to it - SEE PICTURE BELOW). You will have to remove the lower dash cover to do this. Sometimes the lever gets stuck in the "relaese" position when you pull the cable. Some spray lithium grease usually works well in getting it working again.
If the lever is not sticking, then the ratchet mechanism is dammaged and the pedal assembly will have to be replaced. The assembly is only attached to the vehicle with 3 bolts. It can be a little tricky getting the main cable disconnected fronm the old pedal assembly and connected to the new pedal assembly, but other than that it is not hard to change.

The parking brake on my 2003 S-10 won't lock.
I've got a 00' S-10. The ratcheting mechanism stopped engaging when I lifted up on the pedal to release it in cold weather one day. Removed the parking brake pedal assembly today and got lucky with an easy fix. Within the ratcheting mechanism, the elbow of the torsion spring had been stuck against the release tab, holding it open. A light bump on the spring with a screwdriver got it unstuck and working fine again.
In hindsight, I could have probably fixed this without removing the assembly, but it was hard to see inside. Reach in there with a narrow screwdriver or rod and lightly bump the spring before you take it off completely, it could save you some time and hassle if this is the case.

Broke my ignition switch and now trying to hotwire it now
Unfortunately, you will not be able to do that. The key and tumbler are an intricate part of the vehicles "anti-theft system. If the ignition switch or tumbler is broken it will have to be replaced and the theft code relearned. When the key is turned in the tumbler, the switch reads the key code and sends the code to the BCM. The BCM verifies the code is correct and sends a start message to the ECM and allows the engine to start. With out that code verification, the engine will not start.
