Need to replace freeze plugs

You just drive the exixting freeze plug into the hole in the engine block. Once it has been driven all the way into the water jacket, it can be turned sideways and pulled out of the hole with a pair of pliers. Then you put a little black rtv on the edge of the new freeze plug and drive it straight into the hole until the edge of the freexe plug is flush with the surface of the engine block. This is usually done with a freeze plug driver set. SEE PICTURE BELOWNow how to go about getting to the freeze plug is a whole other story. Each freeze plug presents problems of its own. Some of the can be accessed very easilly. Some of them require that things like starter motors or motor mounts have to be removed to get tho them. Then there are the ones that are located on the back of the engine block which usually require transmission removal to access them.4_12_2012_4_15_22_am.gif

1997 chevrolet suburban with 7.4 engine will not start after being turned off without waiting 10 minutes.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

Will not crank over

1st check all connections for tightness, check signal wire on starter should have 12vdc at small trigger wire when cranking, if trigger wire is good, starter may be faulty or stuck or may need shimmed.

Why whould antifreeze be brown?

its brown cuz the motor is metal and it rusts internally when sitting for periods of time, reccomend a coolant flush where they use a chemical to clean it out. it may not be shifting cuz the transmission cooling line runs thru the radiator and may not be cooling right due to a clog or obstruction in line. who ever flushes it should be able to check that for you.
