You need to repair the low coolant condition before any more diagnosis. If the coolant in the radiator is low that's what the light is telling you. You may have a coolant leak. fix that first then make sure the cooling system is full. Use coolant (50/50) not water.

Its not as bad as it looks. Remove the air filter box. Then the cross-bar, then remove the washer tank. Then you can remove the battery.

From what you wrote it seems that you have a bad plug wire.

If that timing chain or belt has never been replaced it is over do and a slack timing belt will give you these symptoms. The other possible source would be a leak in the vacuum system causing the vacuum advance to work incorrectly except when the motor is reving.
