1995 Nissan Maxima - Page 3 Questions & Answers
What number do you is for the tail light on the 95 nissan maxima
Depending on the manufacturer, there are a variety of numbers that identify this item as a part number. Best thing is to call your local dealer and talk to the parts dept. Then, tell them if they can look up the part you are searching for. Once they identified the part number, tell them if you can have them give it to you so that when you call back you can give it to them as a reference.
1995 nissan maxima alternator replacement
1995-98 Models
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Remove the splash guard on the right side of the vehicle.
- Loosen the alternator belt idler pulley.
- Slip the drive belt off the alternator pulley.
- Remove the four air conditioning compressor mounting bolts.
- Remove the radiator fan and fan shroud.
- Move the air conditioning compressor forward.
- Disconnect the alternator harness connector.
- Remove the alternator mounting bolts, and lower the alternator from the vehicle.
To install:
- Hold the alternator in place and install the mounting bolts.
- Plug in the alternator harness connector.
- Move the air conditioning compressor back into location.
- Install the radiator cooling fan and shroud.
- Install the air conditioning compressor mounting bolts.
- Place the drive belt on the alternator pulley.
- Tighten the drive belt to the proper tension with the idler pulley.
- Install the splash guard.
- Connect the negative battery terminal.
Proper belt tension is important. A belt that is too tight may cause alternator bearing failure; one that is too loose will cause a gradual battery discharge and/or belt slippage, resulting in belt breakage from overheating.
"Warning Lights" on the dashboard of "1995 Nissan Maxima"
The warning lights coming on with the key in the on position is normal. If the key is turned to the start position and the engine will not crank over, suspect an internal starter motor problem or lack of power to the starter solenoid. You can try tapping on the starter motor with a blunt object while someone holds the key in the crank position to see if it starts when this problem occurs. If it starts using this procedure, the starter motor will be defective
Power window problem
On my girlfriend's Civic, the same problem cropped up and it was the driver's door switch assembly. The power for all the windows is routed to the driver's door switches, and from there, out to the other doors (that's how the window lock on the driver's door is able to shut off the window power in the back doors). If your driver's door switch assembly has failed, you'd have no power to the windows, regardless of which switches you're trying to use. I'd suggest going to a salvage yard and finding a new driver's door switch assembly and swapping it into your car and see if that fixes it. It shouldn't run you more than $15 or so, and they're generally pretty easy to swap out - figure a few basic tools and maybe a half hour or 45 minutes of your time.
Car wont turn over,battery is
Starter/solenoid faulty. Faulty starter enable relay (when appicable). No power to the starter from the ignition switch.
Put a test light to the small termial/wire of the starter and try and start it. If the light comes on then the starter or solenoid is bad (recommend replacing as a unit. Both the starter and its solenoid get the same anount of use and the same amount or wear).
If there is no light then start tracing back.
You can get a free electrical diagram from Autozone.com in the repair section. This should help you trace wires back and see what they are for (power, ground, etc.) and know what to check for.
Windows, Locks, And speakers not working. No blown fuses
On some cars when you disconnect the battery for whatever reason certain electrical areas will not be restored to operation after the battery is reconnected. You need what they refer to as a radio code to restore radio and other circuits to operation. The code should be in car manual. If not contact the dealer for the radio code for your car.
Wont pass emission test no engine light on
diesel or petrol? Is the engine worn....has it done lots of miles?
If there is black smoke coming out of the rear and it is diesel add a couple of infector cleaners to hald a tank of fuel and go out for a 50 mile high revving ride. Make sure your cambelt is ok before you try that one.
In a petrol vehicle do the same.
If theengine is not a very high mileage one and has been well cared for it might be that the vehicle only needs a tune up to pass emissions.
This work should be done by a good and experienced mechanic who has a knowledge of nissan, they will probably know the ins and outs of the engine and the ancilleries
GOOD LUCK
Can't start car. How do I shut off alarm or valet switch?
If you don"t have the remote and alarm is going off , there are a few ways to get the alarm off . First make sure all doors are closed and hood and trunk as well go to the drivers door and use your key to lock and unlock the car the alarm should disarm if it does not work do the same on passenger door or trunk one should disarm it . All the locks have magnetic switches on them , they do break so if it doesn't work on one lock it should work on one of the others unless all are broke . Hope this helps you .
