Non working brake lights in Nissan Altima
make sure the button is working, it may need to be replaced. with your foot off the brake peddle, it is on upper part of brake peddle arm. when you let off brake peddle it pushes button in to shut lights off. it may just be stuck in, spray a little lubracant on it if it's stuck and push in manually several times to loosen.
Where is knock sensor on 1997 altima
The knock sensor is in the engine block under the intake manifold near the oil filter. The knock sensor is on the firewall side of the engine. It\'s hidden below the intake manifold and above the oil filter. 12mm box wench needed and best to remove it from the bottom (lay a piece of cardboard down and lay on your back)...taking it out from above by removing the fuel injector rail is near impossible, save yourself the time and frustration...are you getting a trouble code that says this is the problem? If you are having issues with it stalling and not firing up and it gives you the knock sensor code, you may want to check to see if the EGR is stuck. It\'s on top of the engine on the firewall side...much easier and WAY less time than the sensor!

Power to the coil and power to the distributor but not firing need help
As long as your getting power at the black/red wire at the coil (battery power when the key is swtched to the on/run position, I would check the ignition control module. I think Nissan calls it a power transistor. In any case it is mounted on a bracket attached to the air filter housing (see picture below). the bottom picture is a picture of the connector/plug at the module. Using an ohm meter check terminal A & B on the module. If you any resistance at all the module is good. If you get 0 ohms then it is bad of course. Those units are about 100 dollars and it sounds as if you are spending money on parts that aren\'t needed. Nissan is pretty good about testing procedures on thier elctrical componants so I would suggest diagnosing completely and then repair once and for all. If you find this unit is good and you need more testing procedures you can reply/comment here and I\'ll do my best to help figure this puzzle out. Hope this helps.......
WHERE IS MY 1995 NISSAN MAXIMA OBD ADAPTER
On most vehicles it is on the drivers side under the dash near the steering column. In some Asian and European vehicles it may be behind the ashtray and it will need to be removed to access the port.
