Did I just get taken to the cleaners on Nissan Quest repair
I think your prices were anywhere from fair to too cheap
What I would have told you, is that I would not encourage you to make one repair on a 20 year old vehicle, especially that one
Next-- I would never ever install any moisture ridden rusted
used brake parts on a vehicle
So in my opinion, that shop should go out of business
That said & the age of the vehicle, I understand the financials,
but would never ever work with used parts on a braking system
The old caliper
It was heating up-your correct, doesn't matter why, throw it away
The $80.00-- shop lost money working on that part, just a joke
The ABS Module can be installed used, but NOT the HCU Hydraulic
Part the fluid goes thru, that was what I was referring to before
Those only fail because the fluid is not changed every 2 years
Used parts are not warranted, they are other peoples junk
The warranty is for the install labor
I wouldn't work on your brakes for less than $500 to $1000 for all that was required-- PLUS parts & that is at 20 to 30 any hour, not
$70.00 a shop charges you
BUT-- I would use all new parts & properly diagnose & repair the entire braking system
Bottom line here
Your out of touch with auto repair costs & that shop didn't make dime & may have lost money doing what the did after business expenses
Your not considering business expenses, years of training & experience, tools & test equipment or the fact you have to make a living
Repair shops go out of business every day
I lost $300,000 in a trans shop, in three years, personal
savings, mine & my wife's,30 years of savings up to that
point
Very few business make money or last five years & next to none
make ten years, that is IRS Data
