Transmission will not go into reverse. Sometimes

It sounds like the shift lever is out of adjustment by a small amount. Try moving the shift lever a little bit forward & backward from it's normal position to see if this is the case.

No, not really if you are a do it yourself person. Head to a salvage yard and grab an old-school Maxima tank. Most yards have the tanks sitting in the rear seat of the cars there. Tanks are either strapped up or bolted up, and are usually easy to replace, so long as there are not extra components or pumps included with them. $50-60 to do it yourself and $120 + for professional shops.

Turns over but won,t start

check your battery levels. You might have a bad cell. If that is with in levels....check all fluids, spark plugs, fluid sensors, check everything before thinking about the carburetor.

Enigine shaking and rough take off

If the plug wires were off there's a good chance that you have fouled a spark plug or two causing the engine to misfire making it shake. It sounds like a good tune-up might be in order.

Those are supplied with the alternator because the part number fits more than one application. If it does not appear to involve your application - ignore it. There are a few precautions listed for all alternators - like disconnect the battery. But don't worry about information that does not seem to apply to you.

Remove PW steering hose

Hi,

The tools required are :-

  • Large crescent wrench
  • Small crescent wrench
  • Drain pan
  • Shop towel
A Generic Procedure ( This example is for Other brand but might help you, if needed ) is :-

Step 1

The power steering pump is located on the right fire wall of your vehicle. Place the drain pan directly under the power steering pump and use your small crescent wrench to open the drain plug by turning it counterclockwise until removed. Take care that the car has had time to cool so that you do not burn yourself with the hot fluid. Allow the fluid to drain until it is slowly dripping.

Step 2

Use your large crescent wrench to turn the power steering line nut counterclockwise until it is completely loose. The line will not come off at this point.

Step 3

Use your large crescent wrench to turn the bottom power steering line nut counterclockwise until free. Pull slightly upward and free the line from its seat. Both ends of the line will now come free and the line is removed.

Step 4

To replace the line, use the same procedure in reverse. Put the drain plug back in and add the appropriate amount of fluid.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I can't seem toget my belt around the

You should have a tensioner pulley somewhere in the belt's path. It will be mounted to the engine but not connected to anything. You need to loosen it and swing it in towards the engine to install the belt. Once the belt is in place, pull the tensioner to the outside and tighten it, but leave some flex in the belt. If the pulley wobbles or whines, you'll need to replace it, too, or it will destroy the new belt.

NOTE: If the belt still won't go on with the tensioner released, the parts guy may have sold you the wrong belt.
