1988 Nissan 200SX - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My 1998 200sx stopped accelerating while getting on freeway.
Could be the cable that actavates the throttle plate on the intake..
The cable comes from the gas pedel and pulls on the throttle plane in the intake manifold.. opening the plate to let air flow through to the engine. On the other side from the cable is a plastic sensor with wires attached to it this is the Throttle position sensor.. if this is disconnected or broken the computer cannot receive the single that you are pushing on the gas pedel.. very rare for the throttle position sensor to break completly.. best posibility broken cable.. open hood find cable connected to throttle body, have someone in car push pedel see if it moves. Good luck.

Nissan 200 sx s13
The way to check your coils is to start the car and unplug them one by one and see if the note changes, if you unplug one and the note dosnt change then thats the one thats fried.By swapping them around itl still be down a cylinder and will be hard to tell. But yes i bet it will be a coil as i have a nissan also and they do fail and makes it sound like a subaru and smell off petrol.I hope this helps.
P.S i love those S13 200sx, great shape.

How do you set rear end alignment on a 1988 nissan
you need to buy an alignment rack, they cost a few thousand dollars, you will need a shop to install it in too. might be cheaper to just take it to an alignment shop and pay them 30 bucks to do it, as often as you are going to need an alignment kind of wasteful to buy the cow when you only need a glass of milk.

My car just died while
On some cars if the Crank sensor or the Cam sensor is out you wont have spark or fuel on the car until you repalce either one of them. On that cars ECU theres some LEDs that let you know what sensors are malfunctioning, in other words there is a way of self diagnosting without a scanner.

1988 Nissan 200sx: The speedometer, techometer, and odometer
This is a common problem. All of these work from a printed circuit board. With vibration and age they will eventually get a short in the board. No one repairs them just replace the instrument cluster. Requires removing the front of the dash to remove it.
