Rear Passenger Window (Drivers Side) will not go down
Hello, To check to see if its the motor or the switch is simple. Turn the ignition switch on and turn off all noise making things, radio etc. Open your door that has the problem and operate the window switch while you have your ear against the door panel. Listen carefully, you should hear a slight click as you operate the switch. Make sure that the child lock is not on. If you hear it click, the window switch is good and the motor is bad. If it doesn't click, the switch is bad.
If the motor clicks but has no movement you will need to replace it. It comes as an assembly with the regulator. You can not buy the motor separately.
You do not need to take to a dealer for repair but whoever does it needs to know these cars.
I hope this helps.

Takes too long to start the car summer time and winter 17 trys
If this engine is fuel injected, I would be suspect that the fuel rail pressure is high enough, which could be caused by a faulty fuel pump or full pressure regulator.
Injectors could also be a problem, but check the fuel rail pressure first.
Let me know.

Smell of Gas When Driving
John,
Given the age of the car, it is likely that there is a leak in the fuel line from the tank to the engine compartment. It may be leaking slowly enough to give you the smell, but not fast enough to actually drip on the ground, evaporating before dripping.. The car needs to lifted up to examine closely all lines under the car. If you can, put it up on ramps and crawl around underneath with a flashlight, NOT an electric drop light. If you can not safely get the car high enough to get a good look around, take it to a garage and get it up in the air. Tell the mechanic that you want to see the problem. Don't let them sell you a bill of goods. Insist on seeing the leak yourself. If you are lucky, you may be able to just have a section of line replaced, but it is likely that most of the line will be corroded to the point where it all needs to go. There is also a good possibility that the leak is under the hood somewhere, and the smell is drifting in through the duct work into the cabin as you drive. Also, driving with the windows may actually pull the smell into the car from under the car...Good luck. Chip

A/C on 1988 Mercedes 190E
Assuming your compressor tries to turn but squeaks due to the lack of tension on your belt. Belt maybe stretched to far for the tensioner to keep it tensioned. If so, replace belt ('88 model should be single belt if multi belts adjust tensioner). If belt slips because A/C compressor doesnt want to turn when clutched in, that should mean A/C compressor seized and needs replacing.

sunroof module may need replacing, this tells the window to open and close also adjust window when doors locked, works of a magnetic alignment, but the reader can go on them, so you just need to replace this part, its bolted on or near the motor and the motor wires go into the unit. just replace with same part number.
