Replace power steering pulley on 200 chevy malibu
GM power steering pump pulleys are a pressed on type with an"interference" fit-the hole is .001" smaller than the shaft. You need a puller/installer tool.I bought one for about 30 bucks at NAPA,you might be able to rent one at an auto parts store. The tool clamps the pulley nose and has a screw to push the shaft out.(some Chrysler alternators use the same design).
Why does my 2000 Chevy Malibu surge at 2000 rpm
I believe, that there is a short in the fuel pump kill switch which is located on the top inside the gas tank. I had GM replace the whole thing including fuel pump. It took awhile to figure this out, since it didn't show up in thier diags. Since then no problems.

Car is running hot and I put a new thermostat in and water bump
make sure the radiator cooling fans are coming on. GM has also had major problems with the lower intake gaskets leaking on the V-6 engines. sometimes when refilling the cooling systems air lock can occur. run the engine until it warms up and then turn off and let it cool down, if coolant level goes down repeat this process two or three times. other causes could be clogged radiator, or worse case scenario blown head gaskets. also i have on occasion got bad thermostats from the parts store. the upper radiator hose will get very hot when the thermostat opens. run the engine and hold the upper hose and when the t-stat opens the hose will get hot. then when the cooling fan comes on hot air will rush from from the fans. if the fans come on and the air is cool then there is a circulation problem. t-stat, clogged radiator, low coolant, head gaskets. good luck.
Where is the horn relay for a 2000 chevy malibu
under the hood on the drivers side to the rear of the battery there is a black cover that should say "Relay Fuses" on it. unscrew the hand screw and lift up the box. There should be a map underneath the cover you just took off. the horn relay should be number 21 which is a the very top left of the relay box if you are leaning over the fender facing the passenger side
