How to reset oil light
When you open the drivers door there is a fuse box on the dash where it meets the door. Pull off the cover and there will be a red reset button. Turn the car on but do not start it. Once the power is on tap the reset button until the chane oil light is flashing, the hold it down until it goes off. This is how you also reset the check tire pressure light.

Why do i have to hit the gas pedal in order for it to start?
It's possible either a fuel injector or the fuel pressure regulator is leaking fuel into the intake manifold causing a rich condition.
To check the fuel pressure regulator remove the vacuum line with the engine running, there should be NO fuel coming out of it.
To check the fuel injectors is far more difficult.
What does it mean for your car to only run on two engine cylinders
it means that there are only two cylinders actually working properly , as a rule most engine's have either four or six cylinders,if your car is only running on two i'm surprised it actually gets you any where , you will need to get the OBD codes read to discover what is going on , any decent mechanic will be able to read the OBD for you
What causes the truck to not have any power when in drive?
Perform basic diags first... does it have oil and fresh gasoline? Will it rev freely to the limit when in park or neutral when given a quick blip of full throttle? Does it operate in reverse? Do you notice and unusual noise, squeaking or grinding? Have you checked the e-brake and other brake assembly? Hard to troubleshoot with so little info...

1999 pontiac grand am cooling fans not working
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. If your coolant fans are not working, you need to check your fuse first. Make sure it is not blown and the fuse housing is getting power. You can test the wires on the fan to see if the fan is getting power also. You may have a bad wire or break in the harness. If you have power to the fan after this test, go ahead and change out the fan. You can also run a wire directly to the battery to the fan. If the fan is good, it will come on when the wire touches the battery.
How to fix gas gauge?
If your gauge reads full or empty all the time or just doesn't move at all chances are its not the gauge but rather the sender unit in the gas tank itself.service on these is replacement only.Depending on the car,(unless you have an access hatch in the floor of the car) it will require dropping the gas tank out to replace this.It can get expensive to fix and you might just w ant to live with the problem.good luck
Check Engine Light / Crankshaft Sensor
I had a similar thing happen with my cam position sensor. I replaced it, ran ok for a couple of days, threw and another CPS code. Replaced it a second time and it has been fine since. Which is why the garage probably wants to get an oem part. It could also be your pcm considering you are having multiple electrical problems. If you are having the dealership do the work, considering the age of the car, relative value of it, and the ridiculous price they charge I would cut my losses and trade it in. If you are handy and willing to put in the time and work scour the grand am forums and you may find a solution.
