Temperature Display
The inside rearview mirror supplies a 5 volt signal circuit and low reference circuit to the ambient air temperature sensor. The inside rearview mirror monitors and records the voltage on the signal circuit of the ambient air temperature sensor. The inside rearview mirror uses this recorded voltage to display the temperature on the temperature display portion of the compass/temperature display. The temperature display will show "ICE" when the ignition is first turned on and the current temperature is 3°C (37°F) or below. The display will toggle between "ICE" and the actual outside temperature for approximately 4 minutes.
The mirror will display "OC" if the mirror senses a temperature of less than -40°C (-40°F).
the mirror will display a "SC" if the mirror senses a temperature of greater than 112°C (143°F).
Replace the inside rearview mirror with compass. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .
How I set valve clearance on 5.3 L engine on 2001 Surburban
This is a very easy solution. They are not adjustable. If they are making noise it is probably because the oil pressure is a bit low by the time it gets to the lifters of the lifters could be getting tired.
This engine has a roller camshaft and lifters. Does it make lifter noise or are you just asking general knowledge?
How to replace the rear main crank shaft seal
You will have to pull the engine unless you can remove the pan and have room to work. It is a real time and work saver if you can do it without removing the engine, the crank only needs to drop a tiny bit and can be done without removing the tranny. Then you can remove the rear main bearing cap and loosen all the others without removing them so you can drop the crankshaft just a little bit. then you can CAREFULLY use a punch and tap the upper half of the seal on one side so it slips around the crank until you can remove it from the block. CAUTION: DO NOT NICK OR SCRATCH THE CRANK SURFACE IN ANY WAY. Then, apply oil or grease to the lip (the part that rubs against the crank) of the new seal and carefully install the new upper half and push it into place with your fingers. then tap gently until it is seated.Take note which way the lip of the seal is pointed and install the new one the same direction. Repeat with the lower cap and replace the cap,,,,Make sure all parts are clean and oiled, tighten and torque all the caps to specs. replace oil pump and anything else you had to remove, install the pan. Reinstall engine if you had to remove it, add oil.
