I can't get the hood
Get a helper, one person will pull on the handle and the other will try to pull or lightly (so not to do damage) press down on the hood and then lift. If that does not do it then lighly tap on it with the palm of your hand near the latch until it pops up. Then blast that latch with something like WD-40.
I have a 2000 chevy prizm, and a couple times a
Usually when a transmission is going out, it will be slipping, not cause your car to stall. Sounds like you have an idle air control motor that isn't working properly, or maybe a dirty throttle body.
Battery seems to be ok
Many times the battery can run everything but not start the car. If you can jump start it and it starts then it is the battery. Go to one of the autoparts stores, like advanced, and get it checked to confirm. They will also usually change it for you while you are there if it is bad.
Chevy Prizm or Toyota Corolla 2000 valve cover
The valve cover gasket isn't hard to change. Oil on the plugs indicates a more serious problem. Smoke from the exhaust would be from rings, rich mixture, worn valve guides. It may be that the engine is overfull (that would show on the stick). Oil loss from a leaking gasket would smoke under the hood and leave oil on the engine and the ground.
Turn signal shorting out
you have to get an electrical diagnostic to find out what exactly is going wrong with that circuit
Egine Code says miss fire block 1. What are we
I think it means that the number one cylinder is misfiring, which could be spark plug, coil, the plug wire, or the injector. Usually, if the injector is at fault it will have a code for that. Take the spark plug out and check the condition of the plug. If the plug seems alright, swap it with the number 2 spark plug and clear the trouble codes. If the plug was at fault, the computer should throw a code for cylinder 2, if it still throws a code for cylinder 1, then it may be the coil, If the engine has a distributor, change the distributor cap and rotor.
I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY
My chevy Prizm never worked since a while with the same issue
I replaced the Catalyst Converter & CPU,
- dropped the exhaust system,
- checked and replaced most important sensors
- replaced fuel pump
- all 4 ignition coils at spark plugs
It still doing the same thing ... starts and never stay running
I will give it a last shot recheck the harness ... it may be a short, or "main fuse" hidden some where there. That before I give up and send it to heaven.
Vehicle idle very low code p0505 said idle system
Causes: Potential causes of an P0505 code include:
* IAC motor connector is damaged (check connector and pins for damage, and moisture)
* One or more IAC circuits open or shorted to ground
* One or more IAC circuits are shorted to voltage
* IAC has failed
* PCM has failed
Possible Solutions:
* This should be a fairly straightforward diagnosis. Start by clearing the fault codes. Then unplug the IAC and start the engine (This may cause other IAC codes to set. Just ignore them for now). If the P0505 code doesn't reset, replace the IAC. It is internally shorting one of the IAC circuits. If the code DOES return after unplugging the IAC and starting the engine, then you know it isn't the IAC motor. Visually check the wiring harness all the way back to the PCM. You may need to visually inspect the harness by removing all the insulation off the wires. It is possible that the wires could be shorting to eachother or to other wires in the harness.
* If there are no wiring problems, and the code keeps returning with the IAC unplugged, you can check the PCM by removing the IAC wires from the PCM connector (or clipping the wires in a location where they can be repaired easily) and then start the engine (If you're not sure, don't do it. Take it to a qualified professional). Now if the code doesn't reset there is a problem with the wiring. Check for continuity on all the IAC wires. Any resistance points to a problem. Check for voltage on any(At this point there shouldn't be any voltages on the wires because they're clipped at one end and unplugged at the IAC). Repair as necessary. But if the P0505 code DOES reset after removing the IAC wires from the PCM connector(or clipping them), replace the PCM, there's a problem internally on the IAC control circuit.
Hope helps (remember to rate and comment this).
Check engin light on, when
Its possible that you have any emissions sensor go to bad; I suggtes scanned the PCM to know excatly what fault code is sending the "check engine" light.
