Radiator removal instructions

Remove the fan and shroud. Put a large (!) drain pan under the radiator and drain it - if you're lucky it'll have a drain petcock near the lower radiator hose. Unscrew the radiator hose clamps and disconnect the upper & lower radiator hoses. Disconnect the transmission cooler lines if they also go into the radiator (some do, some don't)... you'll want a second, small, drain pan to catch the transmission fluid. Now unbolt the clamps that hold the radiator to the radiator support plate (across the front of the car). Lift the radiator straight up, being sure not to lose the rubber mount isolator pads. Remove it from the car. Replacement is pretty much the reverse of disassembly - put the new radiator in place CAREFULLY so you don't damage it, put the mounting clamps back on, reconnect the transmission cooler lines and radiator hoses, check the petcock (if the new radiator has one) to be sure it's closed snugly, reattach the fan and shroud. Now refill the cooling sytem with all NEW antifreeze/coolant and water mix, about 50/50. DO NOT reuse the old antifreeze. Take close note of exactly what brand and type of antifreeze you used, and never NEVER mix any other brand/type of antifreeze with it, only exactly the same brand/type. After refilling the cooling system, start the car & check the transmission fluid. Top off if necessary.

Cranking but running hot

are your electric fans coming on? also try putting on your AC this activates the secondary fan motor. This may just be a fuse issue. look up the lower and upper blower motor fuses and check them. that is a water temp sensor just below the large hose off the top of the radiator located just below where that hose meet the engine. This tells the computer when to turn on and off the electric fans by the water temp.

Usually when the delay function fails, the problem is in the circuit board module on the wiper motor. You would need to check the circuit with a meter, the module may be available without buying a wiper motor.

Waterpump stripped bolt

Use vice grips or you can take a smaller 8 point socket and pound it on the bolt. First give it a little more torque to tighten it. It will break the rust. Then it should loosen fine. Don't re-use the bolt.

The serpentine belt on my 1984 Buick Lesabre keeps

Most likely you have a seized AC compressor. When you ask for AC or heat the AC clutch engages with the pulley wheel that normally spins freely when the AC is off. As the pulley wheel is no longer able to turn because of the seized compressor the belt will either slip or snap.

The belts continue to make a loud screeching

it could be the tensioner, water pump, alternator, A/C compressor, power steering, or even a really bad serpentine belt. The only way to be sure is to remove the s-belt and spin-check the pulleys and listen for squeaks or grinding bearings.

The heater works but it is stuck on heater and it

Look for broken vacuum hose going into the car from under the hood. It would be a black vacuum hose with a check valve attached to it. You can replace the hose or splice it together with new hose.

if shaking is a pulsing shake from the wheels this indicates a problem with your ABS system.
