It sounds like you have a failed vehicle speed sensor, but that is a guess. What you need to do now is have the ABS and engine control modules scanned for fault codes, once the fault codes are known you can begin to diagnose the problem
Does the engine spin or just click when you try to start it? If it just clicks or there is nothing try checking your battery cables, they may have become loose or they are corroded.
Also because you said you were driving uphill and it started to lose power then died, it could very well be that your fuel pump decided to stop working.
