1998 Mercedes-Benz S-Class - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Hello, I have a 1998
Hello...from you description it does not sound good & your diagnosis is probably correct. The oil in the coolant would indicate a blown head gasket or cracked head. At that point repairs would have been on the top end of the engine. Now, with the loss of oil the bearings have seized on the bottom end. You may have thrown a connecting rod--- The sudden loss of oil may be from a hole in the block or the oil pan... i hope this helps.

My 1998 s320 mercedes, keps
well simple would be good but there are alot of components to the fuel delivery system, so first thing to replace if never done, fuel filter, and then do an EFI service which will clean the rest of the system such as fuel injectors and throttle body and throttle plate and intakes, and test the fuel pump last if none of the other stuff is done, oh and 91 octane is a must for thoses cars, if not used it will harm the car and cause it to run this way also,

I just bought a 95
Sounds like the coolant got mixed. Green with orange. This will cause the sludge you found. If you can pull the coolant tank out with out to much trouble and clean it. Thats what I would do and just keep a check on it. Oil doesn't really get slimy, it justs floats on top. If what you have has got substance to it and has a slimy feel to it, then it is probably just a coolant mix.

1) transmission oil is black
If the trans oil is black everything inside is burnt
The trans has to come out & be rebuilt
no other solution
That could have been prevented if you changed the fluid
every 30,000 miles on all your vehicles
The antenna is most likely worn out & will have to
be replaced

My 1998 Mercedes s320 has an irregular idling rev.
obviously your local mercedes dealer doesnt employ proper skilled mechanics or they would be able to resolve this issue for you and iam not telling you so you can tell them whats wrong as it is up to the management to employ qualified people and not 18 yr old lads and pay them a pittance for the privilage of working on a merc .

1987 model 300E
the engine stops
More info is needed here, but the idle air valve is the first component that comes to mind, followed by vacuum leaks. Is this a '98 or an' 87? The post says both!
