1998?? MERC ,,,usual fault its jammed up ,only soloution is to cut off the lock ,sorry but ?? also you might not be able to buy a lock because merc will not sell you a new lock without your -DNA and passport .TRied to buy one once and i had to take the owner with me ,his passport ,his deeds to his house with a electric bill in his name and they still wouldnt give me one because his log book was a british one that showed his english address and not his spanish address,so we had car taken to another dealers where they fitted it ,didnt ask for no paperwork only his money in cash ,and trust me it was a wallet stripping bill

MEANING OF DASH BOARD WARNING LIGHTS
Hello
If it looks like a battery then most probably one of two things.
1- You have a bad battery.
2- You have a weak alternator that is not functioning properly and can not keep up with the car needs.
You should check the alternator charging value and then check the battery. You could do that at any shop that has the Battery/Alternator testing tool.
Hope that helps

WARNING LIGHT WITH A EXPANATION MARK
It sound like low tire light. The low tire pressure light is usually an amber or yellow looking light with an exclamation mark in side two sideways arches and a squiggly line at the bottom. If that's it just check tire pressure, around 35 psi should be good. I hope this was helpful.
