Check engine lights came on.
Yes an OBD 1 meter will give you a better idea as to what the problem is,however it would be more cost effective to find an OBD 2 meter with the capability to test OBD 1 cars.I do have the same problem with my 88 Lasabre, the 3 codes coming up would be the cam shaft sensor($20),the ignition mudule ($140),or the ECM ($80),I found that on mine the number 3 cylinder does not look like it is firing when I inspect the spark plug, but the only code I get # 41.I'am going to start with the cheapest part first. If you have a basic understanding of the mechanics of vehicles(or a haynes repair manual) you could probably replace this yourself. If you already found the solution to this problem please email me at
[email protected] so that I can fix mine. Thanks
Where is the fuel shut off switch located
Buick cars don't have them. From the fuel pump relay under the hood, the pump's power wire goes directly to the gas tank and the fuel pump connector.
If your pump is not turning on, check for power on the gray wire at the gas tank electrical connector while someone cranks the engine over. The pump wire, I think it is gray, should have battery voltage when the engine is cranking. If it does, you probably need a new fuel pump. Dropping the gas tank is no fun, it is a dirty job, not real difficult, just not a fun relaxing afternoon.
