you have a broken vacuum line going to the heater control module.It will be a black plastic line running though firewall from engine capartment.

Ajusting valves
No adjustment, unless the motor is apart & yourputting the heads back onThey have been hydraulic lifters for at least 50 yearsThe motor is old & the lifters are dirty & worn & possiblyother issues in valve train,sticking valves,worn valve guidesetc

84 buick century just randomly shuts off while driving and wount start for awhile
It may be tough to troubleshoot if you can't duplicate the problem in the shop. Especially on a car that old. Someone will have to check for fuel pressure and spark when it fails to start and then go from there. Could be a long list of things without knowing where to start looking.My guess would be a relay or the ignition module get hot and then cool down. But that is only a guess.

87 buick century 2.8 has spark, and fuel, no
double check the coil pack wiring to be sure they are correct-popping through the intake is usually an indication of bad mechanical timing (I know you said you checked it but that is a big possibility) or a leaking intake valve-or wires not run properly to the plugs.

Car heats up, then engine
Hi, You should replace the thermostat that is located on the top radiator hose (engine side) replace it and you'll be good to go.

Want to install amplifier in
Ive always had good luck through the rubber grommet around the steering column, then under the door trim, and then under the back seat.
