Car stalls at 45mph but starts and runs fine after

One possible cause is a stuck torque converter or solenoid. The torque converter can stay in lockup which has the effect of a manual transmission and not pushing in the clutch.

1995 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE PO640

Well code 640 is usually found on diesel engines for a problem with the intake air heater circuit. There is a code 1640 for some GM cars which is for a problem with one of the quad drivers inside the computer. You may want to get a second opinion on the code to make sure it really is 640.

The car starts fine in the morining but afterwards you have to pump it to get it started

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

What's your problem?getting a p1441 engine code for my 1997 oldsmoblie achieva after having the heater coil changed could this be effect of the heater coil being changed or could the worker tamper

I did a Google search for the code and found many interesting discussions of the problem. I think the real question is: is the garage trying to scam me ?I don't know if this would require a deliberate act of sabotage or whether it could be inadvertent. How much do you trust the garage? The code says the code is from the PURGE VALVE SOLENOID. If that is located near the heater coil, there could have been something happen during the other maintenance. It always boils down to trust and sometimes the accuracy of your B*llsh*t detector.I bought a demo from a dealer. When I had regular maintenance done by my regular mechanic he mentioned that one tire was low and worn as a result. I got myself a gauge and checked it and he was right. I went to the dealership and unthinkingly let the mechanic take it out of my view to check. I wanted two things: a mileage allowance if I had to prematurely replace one tire (their brand) and an indication that I could trust the service department. The guy filled the tire and I had my answer - two negatives. Some people think we are all stupid.

98 olds achieva wont start or come outta park either

As with any no-start issue, you will need to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem to proceed. The brake switch problem with the shifter could be a fuse.No start could be a relay, fuse, fuel pump, coil, or a long list of other things.Did you check the computer for trouble codes ?

Where is the fuel pump

The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank so to replace it the tank will need to be dropped out unless there is an access plate in the trunk.

Brake problems 1997 oldsmobile achieva

I would suggest you have the front disk brakes inspected for warped power disk brake rotors, that is the common cause. They can be machined flat again in most cases.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
