Turn signal switch may be bad from what it sounds like.

You are probably losing your coolant through a bad head gasket in the engine. If so, you should be seeing a milky exhaust. Sounds like you need a new turn signal switch. The lower brake lights are wired through the turn switch. When you fiddle with the turn lever with brake pedal pressed, you are making old worn contacts touch again. A new or even used turn switch should make it work right again.

There should be a turn signal flasher and a hazard flasher. They are two different parts. If you replaced the hazard flasher and not the turn signal flasher than I would start by replacing the turn signal flasher. One thing you can do once you find the turn signal flasher is to unplug it and use a jumper wire between the two pins of the connector then turn the key to the run position and place the turn signal lever in the left or right position.
