96 aroura slow to start but once started runs fine turn off ingition restart with no problem so what cause the slow start up

I would like more information on your problem. If the engine turns over slowly at first and after starting swings over faster, you could have a battery on its way out. Have a battery specialist test it. If the engine swings over fast but does not fire immediately you could have fouled spark plugs. When last did you replace them? You could also have bad spark plug leads - they tend to rob the plugs of spark and this is only noticeable at start up. When the engine is warm it does not affect the spark enough for you to notice.

How do you change the a/c compressor on a 96 old aurora?

just changing the compressor, some auto parts stores have videos on this. you will need a vacuum pump and some parts. there is not partial fix on AC. the refrigerant gas is corrosive when it is in contact with water. so, the old lines must be cleaned the dryer must be replaced, the "O" rings must be replaced. the orifice must be replaced. after all the parts are replaced a vacuum pump is put on the system for at least 4 hours. after that, the pump is turned off and the valves are closed and the gage is watched until you are sure there is no leak, then the charge in placed in the system. I forgot, you must also ad the correct "pag oil" if you still what to know how to do this let me know and I will try to find you a link, or you can try Auto Zone

How to install water pump

Drain the cooling system. Remove air cleaner. Remove water pump belt cover (4 bolts) Remove water pump drive belt by moving the belt tensioner in the direction which loosens the belt. Remove the bypass hose Remove the lower hose and pump cover. Use remover/installer tool (J-38816), rotate pump assembly clockwise to remove from vehicle. ** this tool may be available for "rent" from your local auto parts store. It is necessary to prevent tearing the new pumps' seal during installation and it make removing a stuck pump much easier. Also, once you return the tool the auto parts store refunds ALL of your money.

What would cause my 1996 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a 350 Vortec engine to backfire on occassion when I crank it?

The distributors on these GM trucks should be replaced at least once a year. Any check engine light on? The crank sensor can cause it to backfire as well.

How minny quarts of oil dose a 96 olds aurora hold

A typical automobile holds 4-5 quarts of oil.....Depends on the size of motor. If changing yourself, Drain out all oil, change filter, put oil plug back in. Put 3- 31/2 quarts back into car. put oil cap on and start car. Let run for 2-3 minutes then shut back off. Wait for a few. Pull out dipstick wipe, put back in then pull out a second time...Now you know how much you need to top off level.

Need to change water pump

Invest in a repair manual for you car. Any Advance, AutoZone, or O'Reilly's will have them. The repair manual will detail and sequence the proceedure. If you're going to be doing this type of work on your car, you simply need to have one. Maybe check your AutoZone, they may be able to print up a brief outline with diagrams for no charge.

My car won't start. After asking about the door locks problem I'm wondering if its a "security" issue as Aurora's have a fuel shut off if the security is breached. It hasn't been broken in to but MAYB

A lot of not starting problems can be attributed to the immobiliser not recognising the key or the key's programming. If the door locks are an issue and the security program is not followed exactly then it is quite possible that the immobiliser is doing it's job. Problems can come from low key battery voltage ,corrupted key program, corrupted CPU program. It may be best to take it to a dealer service centre to have the key and immobiliser reset/reprogrammed together

Ok i have a 1996 olds aurora its been sitting up

There might be a good chance the gas may have turned in to varnish. If the gas has turning in to varnish, try to drain the gas tank and run high octane with fuel injector cleaner through the system. Gas that has turned in to varnish will gum up the fuel line and injectors, causing major repairs in cleaning out the fuel system. Good luck and hope this helps. This is old school way to cleaning out the system is to add Acetone to fresh gas in the tank and running it through. Acetone (paint thinner) would use that to go drag racing to bring up the octane, but that's a secrete. Keep me posted and then replace the fuel filter after you run most of the gas through.
