What is a baffles braek in the gas tank

Baffles are a series of plate with holes in them that slow down the slop motion of the fuel when changing direction. IF you have a big tank say 40 gallons and it is 1/2 full then when you go around a sharp corner the 20 gallons runs all to one side and this mass of fuel suddenly all on one side causes the tyres to loose traction and you loose steering direction stability. Baffles are inserted in a tank during construction to slow down this mass movement so that the weight movement is slow and controllable. For example Chrysler charger had a big tank with no baffles and they were a real pig to handle when partially full.. Heavy fuel tankers have several baffles ( both across and long ways ) so that when they take corners the surge of fuel will not tip them over or push the truck through stop lights. IN your tank if they have broken free then there will be a rattle in the tank and it is possible that where they are spot welded in there may be a leak at the spot

1991 gmc sierra wont start

There are so many things that could have caused this problem to occur. Here are some of my suggestions:

1. Blockage in the air supply to mix with the fuel. Throttle body might need cleaning

2. Compression in the cylinders might be low, probably due to large ring gaps. If you can get your hands on a compression tester to check the compression values of each cylinder, so as to ensure they are in operable range. By the way, was the vehicle smoking heavily when in operation?

3. Is your battery giving a good turn over of the engine? A weak battery can cause an engine not to start. The engine would turn over but just won't start. (Is the engine turning over when you try starting, or does the engine not responding when turning the key?)

4. Igniter in the distributor might need electrical checks to ensure proper electrical circuitry. Liaise with an auto-electrican about this.

AWD light is on 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada. before it came on it would pop or clunk when backing up while wheel were turned.

Check driveline for loose or worn u-joints drive shaft slip joints and cv joints at the front axle.

My Oldsmobile Brava brake lights aren't working, new bulbs and fuse.

Have you checked the brake switch under the drivers side of the dash? There are fairly simple to check. One wire should have power all the time. The other wire should have power anytime the brake pedal is depressed. If there is no power out and power in the switch is bad. If there is no power in than there is an issue with the wiring. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!
