A good place to start, is to make sure all the bulbs light up. And if they
do,try replacing the flasher. The flasher is located under the dash on the
right side of the steering colum brace. Hope this solves the problem.
If not, get back to us and we'll dig a little deeper. Good luck.

You need to find a shop that has a snap-on Modus with the right adapter they can plug into it and check the codes to see what it is saying is wrong and also reset the light, you may have something other than mintainance going on there.
Car starts when boosted but wont start by itself
It could be either. The alternator feeds electrical charge to the battery. Easiest way to tell is spend the 100 bucks and replace the battery. Even if your alternator is good, some batteries will not hold a charge even when boosted.
If that doesn't work try to get a used or rebuilt alternator.
Personally I would take it to a shop and have them check it first. You could have a solenoid issue and your battery and alternator are fine.
There could aslo be an electrical short in the wiring harness that is causing a draw on your battery.
Can a novice replace the
Yes, it's fairly easy if you have the proper wrench to fit the tension idler.
The reason the belt came off is important also. A typical problem is a worn water pump and pulley. If there is play in the pulley side to side it is worn and the belt won't stay on. On your fan shroud should be a diagram of the belt routing. Basically the smooth belt surface goes on the smooth pulleys and the channeled surface goes against the channeled pulleys. You put the tension on the idler pulley when you have the belt threaded and are ready to slip it on the final pulley. (idler pulley)

When the pump is not turning and you steer the vehicle it will sometimes force the fluid out of the pump. There's a good chance the pump is fine, just make sure you add fluid before you drive it.
Does anyone know the weight of a 1990 olds
It should tell you on the driver door or the panel by the door. Along with Tire information. My guess would be between 4k and 5k lbs. If you can't find it then google vehicle weight. I think the website is autospecs.com or vehiclespecs.com. There are sites that have that info.
