My Oldsmobile Cutlass goes really slow when I go up hills. What could be the problem?

Tune up? Might want to start there. Usually on a tuneup I suggest plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, and a fuel filter. Need more info on how it is acting as far as check engine light, bogging down, bucking, just doggy etc.

How do i test the fuel pump on a 90 cutlas cierra

Yes....you can tes the motor with a 12 volt souce but you also have to determine if it is pumping. Take it to a parts store, they will check it out free...most will anyway.

1991 Cutlass ceirra 3300 ,runs fine for short time. starts running rough, then dies/will not start again.changed fuel filter, then tested fuel pump.fuel pressure is good.what next ?

Check for spark when it won't start. If you have spark, might be your fuel pump relay, maybe the map sensor. If no spark, check another or all plug wires. If ignition isn't working, it could be Crankshaft Position sensor, Camshaft position sensor (or pick-up coil), ignition control module, coils, pcm, or the wiring associated with them. PCM determines spark timing after inputs from crank and can sensors, and sends ground signal to ignition module, cutting primary voltage to coils, initiating spark or high voltage from coil to sparkplug. All these parts have to be working right for ignition. All can be tested too. You'd need a digital volt ohm meter (DVOM) and a repair manual for your car with the test procedures. That Mitchell alldata-diy site has a special on subscriptions, pretty reasonable for a 1 month subscription, and excellent info and troubleshooting flow charts, wiring diagrams, etc.

My 1990 oldsmobile cutlass ciera wont start at all and its not showing a code

Sounds like your coolant temp sensor went bad, it is in or around gooseneck /intake area 2 wire plug yellow/brown if I remember right this regulates fuel according to temperature so basiclly it tells ecm how much fuel to send to throttle body for how cold it is out. these go bad and cause a -40 *F which pours raw fuel down intake thus flooding,

I have two codes coming up,they are 1-2 and 4-3

I don't think you have the OBD system yet in that vehicle . the 1-2 is a code 12 and should have flashed 3 times. 12 means the computer is working to give you codes. The 4-3 means code 43 and that should be:
  • ESC circuit
  • knock sensor signal
I hope this helped and good luck.

I have a 1990 cutlass and won't start. changed plugs and wires and fuel pump

You need to first check the fuel pressure, the test port is at the top of the engine and looks like a large tire valve, you will need to purchase a special fuel pressure test kit though. You also need to check for fault codes in the engine electronics, to do that follow the instructions HERE

I have a 1990 cutlass ciera that has been giving

Hello Here is the Factory manuals definitions of the codes:OBD1 fault code 12- System normal/ready. This means the system is able to deliver stored OBD1 fault codes in its memory, it is not a fault code.OBD1 fault code 22- TPS sensor signal voltage low, this means either the Throttle Position Sensor is defective or the wiring to it like the connector, the sensor is the most common issue. The TPS is located on the throttle body of the engine.OBD1 fault code 43- Engine spark knock sensor signal problem. This can be a defective connector at the sensor or water intrusion into the connector or corrosion of the pins inside the connector body. The Knock sensor is located on the side of the engine block, it screws into what would on earlier years would have been a engine block drain plug. You must get under the car to see it. If you go to www.rockauto.com and look the the parts up there will be pictures of the TPS and the Knock sensor. The prices at the site are some of the best I have found, and i really do check around, I buy ALLOT of parts! Good Luck and hope this information helps.
