Shifter is not going back far enough to have reverse lights when in reversdse

you need to take the shift unit apart. check to make sure it is calibrated for the gear it is in. if it is at the tranny, (why did you think to push on it there? _) then your linkage has a worn part or connection has loosened in the linkage. chek the switch to see if it has come loose or is worn. 1998 Dodge Dakota, the brake light and ABS lights are on with brake pedal pushed and the rear wheels continue to spin.

check the rear wheel sensor wires and sensors . IT appears that the ABS is receiving ( or not receiving a signal telling the unit that the wheels spinning) a bad signal saying that the wheels are stopped and so the fluid to the wheels is restricted to allow them to spin. Check the fluid level in the reservoir as there may be no oil in the section of the master cylinder for the rear wheels and that half is not working

Replace heater core

Replacement of the heater core requires COMPLETE REMOVAL of the dashboard assembly. It will also require discharging of the A/C system. It is not a task to be undertaken by the novice as it is easily possible to end up with a very messy and expensive repair bill if you screw it up. Many electrical/vacuum connections as well as the A/C system discharge, cooling system drain, and airbag system disabling makes this a job for the experienced DIYer or better yet, a trained mechanic.
