Did you try putting foot on brake and starting (not just turning switch)?

I'm not 100% sure if you got the right sensor. What you need is the output speed sensor not the input. if your looking under the hood of your car it will be on the front of the transmission the input is directly above the TCM and the output will be about 6 inches up and to the right of that. You will have to replace the ball joint obviously, but go to Youtube and look for a video showing how to replace all of it. That would be your best way to go with a video showing you all the detail

This happened to my Avenger too. The issue for me, was, my spark plugs were loose or bad. The plugs were replaced and it ran like the issue never happened. It happened just as you say though, I had gotten gas and that's when it started. I hope it's as simple for you as it was for me!

run fault codes and check for faulty temp sensors

is the shaft damaged or did the little key piece get damaged they can be replaced ?

A Chiltons or Haynes manual should show that.

check your belt tension. rub a wax candle on the drive side of the belt and see if it goes away.

are you sure that it is still the O2 censor? are you assuming because the check engine light is still on? because you have to reset it after fixing something you just disconnect your battery completely for a bit like 15mins and then reconnect it and the light should go away.
