check fuses

This sounds like the anti theft security system failing. Very common on GM vehicles, especially 80's Corvettes. The system was originally designed with a starter disable system if the security key was not correct. (or if it was being stolen) Corvette and Cadillac started using a fuel disable system since people would just the starter to steal them. The symptoms are exactly what you describe. Vehicle starts and runs for 1-5 seconds and then dies. It is actually turning off the fuel injectors. Check fuse and ground.

Most of these components are located way up under the dash and may require removal of the entire dash to gain access. Any vacuum leak can cause this problem, as can a bad vacuum check valve, so check all lines using a vacuum gauge before you tear into it.

isn't there just a connector under the seat so you can just leave the switch in the seat and disconnect the connector below ?

clutch disc is in backwards more than likely.

I would recommend a gasket seal be fitted with silicone at bothends at the cylinder heads ( maybe check your PCV Valve also ! )

Some of these old wiper systems had ground issues. Try to run a ground wire to the unit and then a ground point were the wiper motor is mounted. The original would have had a ribbon ground strap that would have provided adequate ground in most cases, but in some cases, just running another ground was needed to fix this problem.

Your local Chevy dealer parts/service dept. should be able to answer this, or look it up for you.

Maybe pressure regulator

Could be faulty relay or bcm

Check fuel pressure. Pump may have crapped out. If pressure is good, clean and rebuild carb.
