I have a 2004 VW Passat the engine light came on had it diagnosed the code is P0322 what does it mean and how is it fixed? Thanks

Symptoms- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)- Lack/Loss of Power- The engine may be harder to start- The engine may stumble or stallPossible causes- Ignition/Distributor engine speed sensor harness circuit is open or shorted- Ignition/Distributor engine speed sensor poor electrical connection- Faulty Ignition/Distributor engine speed sensor- Faulty Crankshaft Position sensor- Low battery charge- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)When is the code detected? The P0322 code is triggered when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects no signal.P0322 VOLKSWAGEN DescriptionIgnition failure sensor is used to check whether the spark ignition is occurred correctly or not and also used to tachometer drive. The sensor monitors the voltage difference between a resistance which is on the battery circuit for ignition coil. When the ignition coil works properly, the electric current through the resistance is detected as voltage drop. This is confirmed for every ignition event with the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor. If ECM detects a malfunction, no ignition is possible, so the engine would not start. If there is no ignition signal for a predetermined cycle for one or two ignition coils, an ignition coil circuit failure exists.

Check engine light flashes and

A flashing ck eng light is an indication that your vehicle is burning way too much gas, enoigh to damage the catalytic converter. Is the shimmy rhythmic, like a constant repeated vibration that increases with acceleration? If so, have your ignition coils checked. You may have a defective one creating a misfire.

Emissions Workshop on display

I had this problem myself and was told it could be one of 3 things

1. ignition coils are on their last legs and would need replacing (there are 4 of them in a VW golf)

2. The throttle housing is knackered and needs replacing as it has caused the motor that powers the accelerator to stop working and

3. The catalytic converter has an excess of carbon stored within it and has caused a defect.

All 3 of these jobs are notoriously expensive. Much to the delight of whoever it is you have gone to see....

Air conditioner in my 2004

You need to check and see if the cooling fan (electric) on the radiator is coming on. If this fan does not come on the high side pressure will go over 400psi and turn off the compressor until the press. drops. either the cooling fan motor is bad, the cooling fan relay or the fuse for the cooling fan relay. you can check the cooling fan by removing the cover of the power steering reservoir and pulling the wiring harness out from under the bracket. the fan has two wires in its connector, one red and one brown (there may be a tracer color on either one) these two wires are heavy gauge, like #10. unplug the harness and feed power to the connector on the fan side and see if its spins. If it works your problem is probably the fuse or relay. If it doesn't it may be seized or stuck or burned out. Reed, Aquidenck Motors

What is alternator how can

The alternator is what charges the battery, which supplies energy for the electrical systems of the vehicle, such as lights and the radio. It is driven by the belt which is driven by the engine. Before replacing the alternator make sure it is the cause of whatever problems you may be having. A sign that the alternator is bad may include the car shutting off while driving and won't start back up (but will start up with a jump).
You can test the charging volts of the alternator to the battery while running also.

2004 vw passat wagon

Unfortunately this is not uncommon and I hate to tell people bad news but the problem is in the transmission. It sounds like the reverse is not locking in like it should. There is a pin inside the transmission that is supposed to lock it in place when you shift to reverse but that may have rounded off or seared off which would cause your problem. A clogged filter will also cause this issue. If you had that transmission back flushed, the normal method used today by shops that cost around $140 or so, then I can tell you for a fact that it needs to be rebuilt.

My 2004 Passat tdi breaks

2004?? not sure here but i would check the toothed metal ring on the front wheels as they do corrode giving a dodgy reading ,also i would then if the ring is ok strip the pistons out of the front calipers both sides and remove the seals then clean the seal seats out with a bent screwdriver to remove the corrosion behind the seals in grooves, then fit new seals and use waterproof (white grease) behind the seals ,refit the pistons and use the same grease on the pistons .You will not hurt the seals with this grease as they are not rubber like 50s cars ,i suspect that with all the salt used on UK roads this is causing the seals to grab the pistons because the seal seats are corroded.Never get this sort of problem here in spain on local cars only the imports from the north of europe which are not worth buying for this sort of problem which is why secondhand vehicles are more expensive here ,my old XJ6 4.0ltr is valued at 6000euros here and in the uk you couldnt give it away with a years ticket and tax on it

ABS light came on with

ASR - Acceleration Skid Control system.
When ASR warning light blinking the system is activated itself for car acceleration skid control.

For today's typical high-torque engines, traction control (ASR) can increase both comfort and safety, particularly when driving on slippery roads or surfaces offering differing levels of grip. Traction control permits smooth starting and acceleration through the full speed range without wheel-spin or fishtailing.

tdisline_644.jpg

ASR only operates in conjunction with the electronic accelerator (E-gas) and uses components of the anti-lock braking system (ABS). If one wheel suddenly begins to rotate faster than the others (slip), ASR intervenes in the engine management system and reduces power until the wheel stops spinning.
The ASR system represents a further contribution to active safety as it maintains vehicle traction and directional stability throughout the acceleration phase at any speed. In addition, it reduces tyre wear. Activation of the ASR system is indicated by a flashing indicator lamp in the instrument cluster.
The ESP system means the Electronic Stability Program. If the ESP lights on the dashboard permanently the ESP system is faulty. You must access the ESP Electronic Control Unit (ECU) memory for pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car. Then you will be full informed about bad pieces (e.g.: front right wheel abs sensor interrupted, ...). After bad pieces replacement you will be able to erase all faults memored by ESP ECU, in other words reset the ESP system and turn off the warning lamp on dashboard.
