Gas gauge does not work
Check the fuse first. If it's good then the voltage regulator on the instrument cluster is bad.
P0102 2001 pontiac bonneville
Hi there:DTC P0102
is a fairly straight forward code pointing to a fault in the Mass Air Flow Sensor. I suggest check to make sure there are no holes or air leaks in the air filter housing or ducts. Also, check that the air filter element is not excessively dirty and restricting air flow; at this point, if the visual inspection is ok, suspect a faulty Mass Air Flow sensor.Check in THIS LINK information about description and additional tests.Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.
Engine sensors
Go to Autozone and have them scan your Pontiac,it's free,it should give you a DTC code and you can post it here to find out why it means.
Break lights dont work
go to the trunk remove the cover also the the bolts and remove the tail light place back the same way
My gas guage is not working what could be the problem
The fuel level sensor/float connected to the fuel pump inside the tank or the cluster itself, have someone hook it up to a scanner and see if they can sweep the gauges, if they can then more than likely it is the float inside the tank. If they cant sweep the fuel gauge it is the cluster. If I had to bet I would bet on the sensor inside the tank because it is more common
Front windows dont work
remove the control switch`s and use a test light to test for power at the switch`s remember to have the key in the on posion chances are the power wire broke or vibrated off the termanal
New battery and doesnt want to start unless it is ran everyday
It sounds like you have a short. First, check the trunk and glove compartment lights to make sure they go out when they are supposed to. (a pitch black garage is good for checking the glove box since you cant get inside, or the video funcion on your phone if you have one) Once you've ruled out those go get a test light with a incadescent lamp (not LED). Take off the negative battery terminal and hook the light inbetween the cable and the terminal of the battery ( you will have to have a friend hold it or get creative) If the light shines bright for a few seconds then dims (or goes out) you don't have a short (or it's intermittent) If it's bright and stays bright then, one by one start pulling fuses, when the light goes out or dims considerably you have found the component that is draining you battery. Find and disconect the parts in the system with the fuse back in to see if you can find the one thing that is causing it. if not just pull the fuse every time you park the car until you can get a mechanic to find and fix the problem. I had to buy a cheap trickle charger to keep my car alive because I could not find a fuse that was the culprit.
Egr valve troubleshooting
Hi Mike, I'm glad to help! Mike in the older cars like your we've found here at the dealership the most common problem is the EGR causes a vacuum leak and the engine dies at idle. Here's how you can check it. Warm the engine to operating temperature, let it idle while taking a can of carb-cleaner or parts cleaner and spray it directly into the opening of the EGR Valve. If the engine trys to die then replace the EGR Valve. NOTE: Be sure to clean the tubes and holes that are related to the EGR. CAUTION: When using the cleaner to check the engine be careful not to overdue it and cause a fire because the cleaner is flamable. I suggest having water or fire ext handy just in case, I've never had a problem but its always good to be save then sorry. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Mike.
