2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse - Page 2 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Timing belt needs tighten can it be done?
the tensioner for the timing belt is a hydraulic tensioner and automatically keeps the belt under tension. Because it is hydraulic it can leak oil which gets on the belt and will destroy it.. For this engine to get maximum life out of the belt, it is recommended to replace the crank shaft seal and the cam shaft seals and the hydraulic tensioner. All idler pulleys should be replaced as well as the bearings do a lot of work . If you want a good long lasting job I suggest an accredited shop that does a lot of your make of engine and spend the money now as it will save in the long run.. The noise is more than likely a idler bearing on the way out.
2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse overheating
If it is overheating within minutes of starting, your probably having a head gasket problem. continuing to drive it overheating will ony cause more damage to the cylinder head or block. A cracked head is not cheap.

Florrboard on drivers side stays wet on 2005 santa fe even when it hasn't rained in over a week losing coolant regularly
Sounds like your heater core has sprung a leak and needs replacing. Verify if the wetness is plain water or coolant. Engine coolant circulates through the heater core (just like a small radiator) and gives up a small amount of heat, which the blower fan picks up and blows out the heater vents. Replacing the heater core is quite easy, or a total nightmare, depending on manufacturer's design-when you have to remove the dash from the vehicle to get at the core-that's what I mean by a nightmare. Check a repair manual for your car to see how difficult the procedure is. Good luck.
