There is no simple solution for this problem. A mechanic will have to see the linkage and cable to diagnose the problem and affect repairs. Sorry.
Can not find the idle screw so I can adjust the idle , because my van's idle is to slow.
Idle speed on fuel injected engines is controlled by the idle air motor. Yours may be dirty, EGR dirty, vacuum leaks, MAF dirty, tune up issues. DON'T turn the screw which controls the throttle blade closed position, but do check that the blade is clean and not sticking open, as this prevents the IAC from doing its job. Bad coolant temp sensor or O2 sensor can affect idle quality also.
My 1999 olds silhouette van just got s new engine put in it, it will turn over, but will not start. What could cause this to happen?
I am going to assume that this is a 3.4L and that all the sensors were transferred to the new engine from the old engine and that the old engine ran before replacing it an that all the connecton are good.
Now with that said, There are three thing required to make an engine run.
1-proper air/fuel ratio. proper fuel delivery and pressure.
2-proper cylinder compression.
3-proper ignition spark, integrity and timing.
Once you have figured out what is missing , then it is time to diagnose what is at fault.
Make sure you have fuel delivery and at proper pressure.
Determine if the ignition coils are firing.
I would assume that you are gonna find there is something lacking within thses to steps.
If no spark, you will need to verify the all the connections are good and connected at the ignition module (under coil packs).
Make sure all ground connections are good.
I can only assume that the compression on the engine is good from this standpoint, because you said it is a "new" engine.
Hope some of this will help.
