Hi I would have the alternator checked as the heater takes a lot of battery power it sounds like the alternator is struggling to run the car and the heater at the same time I hope this helps Nick

If it's getting hot at low speed or idling then it could be the fans,but if it's getting hot at road speed,it may be a head gasket.

You would be better off the replace the whole cv axle than just the joint! If you mean you are having a problem taking the joint out of the transmission? Or you do not know how to take it out all together or?
