I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.0 non-turbo

How deep was the water? Was it over the hood? Only way you would get water in the engine is through the air cleaner. Was it that deep? If you think you have water in your engine then change your oil. Something electrical got wet like a distributor etc. Park your car in a heated garage with the hood up and have a fan blowing on the engine. This should dry it out if not check everything electrical.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

Its overheating and leaking, just changed the part

The overheating should be because of the leak in the radiator hose which isnt allowing the coolant to circulate through your engine. You should let your car run for a few minutes and give it some gas and then check out all the hoses and see if there is a small leak. Also your radiator fan could be malfunctioning so as your engine heats up its not able to cool down its just continues to heat up. Keep an eye out for the leak and the fan
Hope this helps

We just had tranmission work

I personally would be greatly suspicious of that mechanic.Losing " a lot of transmission fluid" is a serious thing and may have actually caused permanent damage to your transmission. As the mechanic has compromised their integrity, I would immediately take the vehicle to a different mechanic - preferably one who does not know the first and ask for a diagnostic on the code and an inspection of the previous person's work, with a written report of their findings. Di not tell the new mechanic of the happenings with the first - you want an unbiased opinion and not one formed to protect the incompetent or inept. If he asks about previous work done to the car, don't lie but do limit what you say ( i.e. say another shop, not Tom's Auto Repair in Cucamonga). It is possible these 2 instances are unrelated and your shop had an OOPS moment, but you do need to insure they didn't waste your transmission, costing you a small fortune and loss of time for the trans replacement. Protecting yourself is the primary goal here. Hope this helps!!

I need a diagram for

Hello, All cars, regardless of make have the belt routing diagram located in the engine area. The diagram is a sticker located either on the under side of the hood or on the radiator support frame in plain view. Sometimes you will need to remove some dirt to see it.
Good luck! Rich L.

How change a fuel filter

if your car is not turbo charged the filter is located next to the fuel tank and if it is turbo carged you will find it mounted on the firewall which is directly behind the engine. very easy to replace just have to unbolt the fuel lines from it and unfasten it from holding place. be careful it will have pressure so make sure vehicle is cool as not to ignite spilled fuel on the exhaust. good luck.

What is the trick to putting an engine in a 98

You may have to remove some engine parts, sush as the crankshaft pulley or other parts to give you more room. You might be better of to pull the transmission, attach it to the motor and install both at once?

Going down the road at

If the electronic cruise control is malfunctioning, it could be the electronic module that is connected to the pulling mechanism. that actually pulls the throttle plate open with a cable or ribbon cable.

Check that there aren't any breaks in the wire as you wiggle the connections or any shorts in the brake circuit that would make the cruise control turn off , unexpectedly.

How often does this occur?
