1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX tail

Hi,
Looks like the park light harness got a short circuit.
Check the wire harness leading to the tail light. One of the power wire( usually red wire ) is stripped off the rubber insulation and touches the metal body ground. Check also the tail light connection and bulbs base contact points..
When you found the wire insulate it by using any plastic electrical tape.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

Hi there,

You definately have a transmission problem.

When was the last time the transmission fluid was completely replaced? Trans fluid is CRITICAL for proper shifting operation. The measuring of trans fluid is also critical and must be measured in a certain way (engine warm, selector moved through all gears, then finally left in N, while checking for hot level).

Your trans also has a fail-safe function - when a fault is detected, the trans will go into "LIMP" mode. This still allows driving, but will usually remain in 3rd gear. In this instance, the "N" (Neutral) light on your dash may also flash.

If you are technically inclined, I can provide your with instructions on how to check your trans computer for fault codes...

Let me know...

Cheers,

1997 eclipse is hard to

Check for loose wires or vacuum hoses which may have leaks or worn out.

You may want to check you battery. It should have at least 12.7v to get better starts. You may also want to try to jump start the car by connecting it to an idling car with a jumper cable. If it starts right away it may be a weak battery.

If the problem still persist it may be a weak starter since it is harder to start a car in the morning. Other than that it could be a weak fuel pump.

It's as simple as unbolting it. If you don't have the strength, get a mechanic.

Engine will turn over but

You need to ck for spark . Pull one spark plug wire off at the spark plug end . insert a new spark plug into the wire and set the spark plug on the valve cover watch the new plug while some one try's to start the engine and see if their is spark if their is you have a fuel deliverery problem or a possible timing problem ,the alternator should not make it not start.
