with the engine off put it in any gear and rock the car back and forward this should hopefully disengage the starter

There are a couple of relay switches in the side of the top on the driver's side. One of these is not working. Your break lights are out because of this too. You have to apply the brake to lower or raise the top.

The side impact air bag in the door? Unhook the battery. Wait 5 minutes, then unbolt it and unplug it. It will be fine. Don't hook up the battery with the air bag unplugged to test the window, it will set a trouble code and the air bag light will be on until you go to the dealer and have it reset. Just make sure before you hook the battery back up the airbag is bolted back in place and plugged in.

Error codes not in service manual. presumme dealers can assist you with a pnhonecall for error codes.

BMW SERVICE RESET

Take a small wire, paperclip, or elect wire and bend like a horseshoe. No light or equipment necessary Open the diagnostic data port, the one were the little pacman centre is located. Turn the ignition to position 2, don’t start. Connect pin7 always first and then pin 19. Hold for 4 seconds. Remove wire and settings will be reset. Warning if you hold the wire longer than 10 seconds you may reset inspection intervals 1 and 2.

Take the car to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve any fault codes stored in the car's computer. Most parts stores will perform the scan at no charge. The light comes on when the computer has detected a fault in one of the car's systems. Getting the codes will help identify any problems/potential problems that the computer has identified. You should be able to find the radio code in the manual and enter into the radio... It's a little blue and white card.

If your manual does not have this information / card you will have to contact the deal to get it resolved. They can check with the factory based on your VIN number and get the radio code. This is a security feature on the radio that usually ends up causing more problems then it solves.

Try vigoursly shaking the wheel left to right right to left whilst turing the key, may have just jammed

has some of the fire wall sound deadner falling behind the pedal near the top where it mounts

yes the light is because of the gas cap being gone (sets code in evaporative emissions system), replace the gas cap, disconnect the battery for five minutes and that will turn of/reset the light, make sure u have the radio code before u do this, if u don't u will have no radio after the battery is disconnected..

IS IT LEAKING OUT OF THE SENSOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TEANK

you can test the coil by moving its location and see if it behaves the same way on a different cylinder ie. misfires, I was also going to suggest that you recheck the power connections to each coil

I would say either  transmission control module or the torque converter.

its the dreaded seat rock syndrome, plenty of fixes on the forums, basically you have to replace spacers in set drive mechanism. I did with the help of a friend after ordring bushes and it was quite easy.

have the crank shaft sensor checked

i believe on this car, low beams & fog lights use an HB4 and high beam uses an HB3. but, as bmw_tech_38 mentioned above, remove the old and it should be listed in the base.
