WwwI have a 1998 BMW

You can buy a code scanner that reads out fault codes and resets the oil change, inspection, and engine fault lights. There are several brands, but the Peake is the most popular among BMW owners.
On a '98, you can reset the oil light by shorting between a couple of the pins on the computer connector. It is advisable to make a jumper that includes a resistor. If you go to a forum like DTM power or Pelican or BimmerForums or UnitedBimmerCommunity and search, you will find the instructions. I would rather not tell you how because I would feel guilty if you made a mistake and flame-broiled some very expensive electronics on your car.

The airbag light is constantly

Actually your aribags are not functional. Send the car at the dealer, for a check and clear code. Might be a wrong code, a louse contact, a module, or sensor problem. Without checking codes we are guessing. This is going to cost you $100 plus parts, if something has to be replaced. Normally for check and advice ONLY, dealers charge $65 to $ 100. Hope this will help.

Remove front bumper of 2005

The procedure is as follows:--- First remove 1 screw from each side of the fender well. Then remove the four screws from the bottom of the bumper. Also remove the screws in the fender liner as well as the under tray. Also, there are a couple screws located under the headlights behind that trim piece. And it should come out.But bit its still feeling stuck up.Then, You've got to give it a good tug directly forward. Some are a little stuck. For more detailed procedure follow this:--- remove 3 8mm bolts from the fender well on each side (total of 6 bolts). On the driver's side there's 2 more 8mm bolts under the bumper that connect to the fender well. The fender well should now be able to be removed and set aside. The passenger side also has 2 8mm bolts and a plastic phillips screw that needs to be removed and you then need to pull out the plastic "thing" that the screw came out of. You should now be able to remove the passenger fender well and then remove the bumper. Just tug on the bumper each side and it should come off with a little persistence. Once the bumper is off the body you will need to disconnect the fog lights on each side - just rotate the gray plastic insert about 90 degrees and it will come right out. Also if you require diagrams to see where the screws are located. Convertible roof problem

If the roof is stuck there is a manual over ride in the trunk and also a reset. Try getting the top into up or down then remove the negative battery cable for 40 minutes. Reattach the cable and try again.
While I have your attention please take down the VIN number and ask the dealer about recalls - these are free and last for the life of the car and to all owners - down the line and original.

Where to put in the automatic transmission fluid

I own a 1994 BMW 540i with an automatic transmission. The filler hole/plug is located under the transmission oil pan. Picture in your mind an inverted cone with a hex plug inside the top of the cone. You will need to remove the plug and pump fluid into the pan until it overflows. Also, this must be done with the engine running and the transmission in neutral.

Do not try this unless to you have the proper equipment to raise your car, keep it level, and have four jackstands in addition to the special fluid and pump.

I have a 1996 BMW

1. Replace the ABS malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) bulb from the back side of the instrument cluster.
2. Next step: you can try to disconnect the battery from car terminals, waiting for 30 minutes and connect again the cables in order to reset the ABS Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
3. If this procedure does not work you must use a diagnostic equipment connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC - placed under bonnet). The ABS ECU fault memory can only be accessed and erased using diagnostic equipment connected to the DLC.
