1986 BMW 5 Series Questions & Answers
1986 bmw 535i runs great
It sounds like either the throttle position sensor or the mass airflow sensor are bad-the TPS can be checked with a digital meter, it should give different voltage readings as the throttle is opened with the engine off, key on. The MAF can be cleaned with MAF cleaner, or will need to be replaced. Another, although less likely possibility is a clogged fuel filter.

The engine turns but the car won,t start.
You will need to check for fuel pressure or dirty filter. If you do not have fuel pressure; be sure to check fuses or any relay pertaining to fuel pump (if electric). If fuses and relays are good check or replace fuel filter. If the fuel pump is mechanical disregard fuses & relays and check or replace fuel filter. If this does not resolve the problem then the problem could be the fuel pump if mechanical, If its an electric fuel pump it could be a fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, crimped fuel line or other wiring issue.
These are the most common things I run across, oh, a crimped fuel line can cause the problem in either case electric or mechanical. Hope this helps in some way, been awhile sense I worked with an older car.

How to Reset airbag light on 2002 bmw x5
The SRS light is on because the airbag system has developed a fault and is turned off. When the problem that caused this is diagnosed and repaired the light will extinguish itself. Right now you have no airbag protection in a crash, this could cause you serious injury or ***** how much is your life worth, get it repaired. I remember well the horrible damage to the human body before safety features like Airbags and collapsible steering columns to list a few, it was not pretty.
My 2001 x5 wont start nothing wrong with battery or starter
it
just wont turn over or crank
You can have a problem with the shifter cable. It will only allow it to crank and start if it's in Park or Neutral and it may not think it is. Move shifter through its gears one at a time and see if it tries to crank. That is assuming it's an automatic transmission. If it's a manual it could be a clutch pedal switch. Could even be a starter relay or loose wiring between relay and starter. Good luck.
Bmw x5 2001 the car
Read the trouble codes for your automatic transmission using a scan tool. I like the wireless ELM327 OBD2 adapter and OBD Fusion app.
The trouble codes will tell you why the transmissiion is putting the car in limp mode.
