Engin now sounds like a diesel, need fuel additive?
You either have an engine misfire or a leak somewhere in the exhaust. If the engine is also running rough it's probably a misfire. if the engine is smooth, but louder then there is probably an exhaust leak. A fuel additive probably won't help. Replacing the spark plugs, or figuring out what's causing the issue (misfire or leak) will point you in the right direction.

If this does not work then you may have to replace the battery. This could also be caused by a bad starter solenoid, a bad ignition switch. Do the lights go off when you turn the key to the start position? You could try to jump start the vehicle and take it to any of the large parts stores like Pep Boys, O'Reillys, or Autozone. They can read the codes from the computer, test the battery, starter and charging system. They generally do this for free...
