Battery went dead in 19 degree temp. Jump started
the only way to test a battery is do whats called a "drop test" on it they hook up a tool that puts a very heavy load onto the battery and if it holds its volts for 30 seconds its a good one,,,kind of kill it or cure it! however if the battery go's flat on you can you still open your car? and the radio coad and alarm coad will be lost, so dont just unhook the battery with out powering the car with another battery first,,,use jump leads to do this,
I need to add coolant to my 1989 750IL where does
If there is no radiator cap, there should be a small hose running from the radiator to an overflow tank. Make sure it's filled to the proper level. You may have to check it several times after it cools down from driving.
Battery dead
Go to WalMart, Sears, Pep Boys, O' reilley's, etc. & buy a battery charger. They're about $25 - $35 for a low-end model. Or you can just get a jump start from someone else (via jumper cables between their battery & yours) & drive the car for a while - your alternator should charge the battery back up.
How old is the battery? If it's at least a couple years old, it may be dying. Or you may have a bad alternator or an electrical short that's draining it. If you charge it up & it drains again withing a few days, you need to investigate a possible bad battery, alternator, or other electrical defect.
2006 BMW750i. CD jammed in in-dash cassette. Cd
Hi,
You could try removing the Power Lead from the Unit and reconnecting it to see if that would help the situation and release the CD. If not then sometimes they have a release mechanism near the entry point that may take a pin or flat feeler blade that you insert to eject them. You have to look closely for them.
Failing that then it will probably have to be a removal to strip down the cover and remove them that way.
To unplug the Power Lead, depending on its location, you may have to remove the trim panel to access its locating bracket and screws.
If problem still persists, i would advise you to take the car to the Dealer and he would be able to check whether it is a Better to get a Replacement or It is a Fuse problem or It is better to get it Repaired.
More Often, it is Mechanical Problem and you need to send the Unit for Repair.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Power steering does not seem to have any assist when at a stop.
Tests/Procedures:
1. The power steering assist is speed dependent and should be quite easy when stopped/low speeds. This is controlled by a solenoid on the side of the steering gear box.
2. Check for faults in all control modules. The general module is what controls current flow through the solenoid. Clear all faults and see if power steering operation is normal.
3. At the servo, check for power and ground from the general module. If none present, check wiring back to general module connector X254, pin 9, Black/White and pin 11, Black/Red.
4. Replace solenoid as necessary.
5. Disconnecting the solenoid will remove the variable assist function, but the steering system should still have considerable assist. If it does not with the solenoid disconnected, consider hydraulic faults as the most likely cause. A failed power steering pump is much more likely than the steering gear.
Potential Causes:
Defective General Module
Defective Power Steering Control Solenoid
Defective Power Steering Pump
Damaged Wiring
If your cousin has access to wiring diagrams he will be greatly advantaged in diagnosing this issue
Good luck
