It is acting like it wants to start but wont ,hit

Hi,

Can you give me some more detail. What troubleshooting has been performed so far? Any error lights showing on the dash? Any symptoms of poor running prior to the bump? Any recent work or servicing carried out on the car?

I know its a Beetle but what is the engine size and exact version? Manual or Auto?

Thanks.

Replace parking light on 2006 beetle

Rear parking lamp assembly (2006 New Beetle) is held in the bumper with a spring clip. I removed the assembly using a flat screwdriver to very gently pry out of the bumper. The clip is on the outboard side of the assembly, so you must pry from the outboard side using great caution to not mar or scratch the paint. The inboard side "hooks" to the bumper and slides outward once the clip clears the bumper on the other end. The bulb and socket can be removed by pulling outward from the assembly.

How do i get the headlight out to replace? I

Hold on a sec!! If this is a new bug? Open the hood. Look to the left or right in the engine compartment. Find the long large tube that the headlight assembly slides into from the fender. There is a plastic lever on this tube. Move it to the other position from were it is now. Now go out on the fender and pull the headlight out of the tube. I used my finger nails to get it started. You may have to use a small screwdriver to get it started. Dont scratch the paint. Replace the bulb. slide it back into the tube and move that lever back to the locked position.

Do your radiator fans come on full speed? If so you are losing communication with your engine control unit! Same with the scanner, it links with the diagnostic interface which is integrated in the instrument panel. These are on the driveline CAN-bus! Do any other lights come on? ie ABS light. The main power relay for the engine control unit can play up usually caused by a faulty ignition switch!

2006 Beetle with 32000 miles.

It sounds like the alternator is shot.If your battery is dead after a week,it is not charging.Crank briefly then just click is typical of a dead battery. When you hooked up the jumpers and everything came back on,that is another sign, however, your battery is so far gone that it still would not start.I assume the belt is not broke because you would also lose power steer,brake,A/C,and probably overheat also.If you have an Autozone nearby, they will perform a free check on both the battery and alternator I believe.Since it ran a week with no problems, the PCM should be good.Another possibility would be the voltage regulator but does not seem as likely as the alternator.Good luck! 2006 vw bug. Gas turbo 2.0,convert. I have a

Change the radiator cap. The spring on yours is getting week. The reason it does it when you shut it off and doesnt do it when its running is cause the water pump sucks the coolant out of the radiator while it is pumping so there is not much pressure on it but when you shut car off the coolant stops curculating and egine heat is not transfered coolant exspands and pushes on the cap. If your spring in the cap is getting week then it pushes it up letting the coolant pass by to your overflow tank.

Engine low coolant light on.

You can idle the car up to operating temperature to see if the cooling fan engages. there is a fuse for the fan, it's a 30 amp breaker located in the fuse panel mounted under your hood right on top of your battery. Your Owners Manual should have an illustration.
