My husband has a 2002

These are known for their transmission problems. But if the check engine light is on, there's a code stored in the computer. Getting that code is ALWAYS the first step.

Changed car battery now esp light on constantly.Passat 2003 TDI

The code needs to be read first.Sounds like the steering angle sensor needs to be reprogrammed with requires high end scan tool. Sometimes driving the car helps the ecu to relearn steering angle sensor.

My vw passat 1.8T 2001

Check the transmission cooling lines that go to the radiator. It seems like one may have come loose or split/ruptured, spraying ATF through the engine compartment, and when the fluid got low in the transmission triggered the P0741 code (torque converter clutch circuit).

The ingnition won`t start, how dow I by pass the EPC

Your EPC stands for "Electronic Power Control" and without it (bypassing it, as you stated), you will not be going anywhere in your car. The car MUST have the EPC on/enabled to run, as I have been told. The VW Passat does not have a throttle cable... it is controlled electronically. The EPC light means something is wrong in the drive-by-wire path, the "gas pedal" potentiometers or the electric motor-controlled throttle body, etc. You will need to take it to a mechanic/repair shop that is knowledgable in foreign automobiles (especially VW's) and has the appropriate tools and equipment to read any "codes" being kicked out by the computer.

I have a 2001 New Passat with the EPC light coming on randomly and it will idle high but next time I start the car it goes away. I think you will have to take it in to the dealer.

My 2003 VW Passat W8 Wagon had 2 codes on it...P0206 and P0011..I would like to get them fixed but would like an idea of the costs for this...??

The 206 code may be just a connector or wiring issue, but the worst case would be the computer (driver for injector 6). The 011 is usually caused by a jammed camshaft adjuster. If that was caused by sludge, you may have a big problem. However, if the engine was well maintained, you may just need a part. The bottom line is that diagnosis is necessary before repair can be properly estimated. It is not likely that you need a new computer, but it is possible.

Loud rattling / buzzing noise from engine when

If the rattling changes with the revs of the engine, it might be that the valve compensators are either worn or not getting enough lubrication. 20V engines have quite small oil passages travelling to the head. They tend to clog up with gunk if the oil change is not frequent enough.

2003 passat 1.8t, GL My left

check to make sure that you have the correct bulb in the correct socket in both left and right tail lights. dual filament bulbs have to contacts on the base of the bottom of the bulb. make sure the socket that you are inserting them into also has two contacts. if that doesn't work then you need to get a test light so you can find out if power is going to the bulb housing and all ground. check all fuses also with amp meter
