Vw passat epc light on

the belt slips, and the engine goes into limp mode, and the epc light will come on- to protect itslef until its fixed. Once its fixed...you may have to decode her up to 9 times to get it to start...I did. Ive done 5 timing belt changes on these blasted cars and every time it slips a tooth and the engine cuts itself off with epc, i have to decode it at least 8 times. good luck. and to the idiot who said gas cap..get a life .

My indicators wont flash all the time, they will flash once of twice and then the light just stays on

Sarah, sorry if this has already been solved, but I'm new at this. Both the problems you posted about your indicators are probably easily solved by replacing the "Flasher Can" in your vehicle. Some vehicles have the flasher can under the dash and some have them under the bonnet. Either way, maybe get your mechanic to check this when you go in regarding the coolant issues we discussed earlier.

Is it ok to put water in the coolant compartment ?

Only in an emergency situation. Each different vehicle is designed to take a certain type and quantity of coolant that is particular to your local climate and environment. You should only put water in place of coolant if you have carried out an emergency repair to the system so that you can get to a qualified mechanic to carry out full and complete repairs who will then flush the system and put in the appropriate type and amount of cololant for your vehicle.

I cannot raise my passenger electric window in my Polo hatchback

Carefully remove the window switch, open it and spray electrical contact cleaner on contacts. Try it now. You may need to remove door panel and lubricate guides and tracks for window. Let me know.

Grating soung coming the front wheel

is it like a growling noise, or a metallic "metal on metal" noise, is it clicking? when do you hear it? Common for wheel bearings to go out on those in my experience. usually you can narrow it to a wheel bearing if when you sway the car, you hear a growling noise towards the heavy end of the car, meaning if you turn to the left, causing the car to naturally sway right, the right hand tire front or rear starts making noise, thats usually a wheel bearing. If its a clicking noise while cornering and especially when corning with acceleration, thats usually a CV axle. if its a metal on metal noise, that can be a brake pad worn to low, or even just a simple backing plate to the brake rotor touching and rubbing the rotor.

SENSORS

HelloThe engine and transmission in this cars drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPEDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM
