Most unusual! Never heard of this. Are you certain the brake shoes are the correct fit for this vehicle, and are the front and rear shoes positioned correctly? I think I would pull both rear drums off, and compare the two sides, and see that everything is just alike. All the springs in the same holes, everything just alike. Also take the driver's side drum to a shop and have it checked for being out of round. Maybe the drum is warped or not true.Good luck.

had this problem on a jag once and it turned out to be the relay is was stuck in the on position ,new relay problem solved ,where the relay is on this vehicle i have no idea sorry but iam a europeon mechanic and never seen this model vehicle

You've probably found out by now the pump is in the tank.Usually, you have to remove tank, but many cars have an access panel to remove the pump without taking tank off. Don't know about yours so you should check with someone who knows your vehicle.

check for power at switches, check for blown fuse, get wiring diagram and trace the power til you find it

The heiroglyphs mystify me also. First move would be to check the picture key in your owner's manual section pretaining to the instrument cluster specific to your car. Without actually having that in hand or being specifically familiar with the car, it would only be a guess. Owner's manual should explain this in enough detail for the average user to become familiar with the function of their vehicle.

What I have found on some of these models is the rear wheel cylinders leaking brake fluid and the shoes get saturated with fluid.This will cause them to lock up.Sometimes just brake dust buildup will also cause this if they haven`t been checked and cleaned this would be a good time.Hope this helps.good luck.
