2002 Nissan Maxima - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima with 120,000 miles.
When the accelerator is depressed in any car, there is always a mechanism there to enrichen the mixture to maintain the fuel to air ratio. On your car. it will be a MAP(Manifold Air Pressure) sensor in conjunction with the TPS (throtle position sensor). One of these could be the problem. Be sure the air filter is clean as well. Ac blowing hot air
This sounds like the mode selector is stuck on heat. Under the dash is the location of the hvac plenum and you need to check the cables and levers that are on it to see if they move when heat and cold are changed as well as the lever for where the air is directed.

Shaking or stumbling when coming to stop or accerlating
Clean the idle air valve with carb cleaner. Replace O2 sensors. Your upper O2 sensor is weak causing a lean fuel mixture after it is full warmed up and at low rpms. Say less than 900. You can run a scanning tool that will check your O2 sensors to see if it is bouncing voltages of about 0.5 to 5.0v several times per second to adjust fuel injector output. If that's not it it may be fuel reg, filters, fuel pump, etc. 1st question you need to ask yourself is, "am I up to date on all maintenance". This includes O2 sensors.
